Danny would like to thank every one in the Bantry Electoral area and in particular the people from Goleen, Schull and Ballydehob, through this newsletter, who supported him in any way those who canvassed, voted and sent kind messages leading up to the vote and since. Danny would like to congratulate all those who got Elected, and sends best wishes to those who put their names forward for this Election but who may not have been elected. Danny and his team carried out a careful canvass and listened to the huge concerns the people have with the current Government and its anti Rural Ireland stance and it is Dannys intention over the next five years to force the Government to start reversing these devastating decisions going forward. Schull Library: Our much loved and much respected Librarian Mr. Jerry Kennelly retires from his position as Head Librarian in Schull Library on this Friday the 31st of May. Jerry has been with us since 2009 approximately and he has injected new life and energy into the Schull Branch. Jerry expanded the range of books, audio books, dvds, large print books, reference manuals and also organised several talks and educational sessions in the Schull library during his term here. The active membership and participation of the local community in the library grew exponentially under Jerry's stewardship. We will be very sad to lose him and we very much appreciate the professional and excellent service and standard he has provided for us here on the Mizen peninsula over the past decade as Schull Head Librarian.

He took ownership of the role and contributed hugely to the Schull community in general. The library is a central social and productive hub for the Schull community including the pupils of St. Mary's School in Schull, who visited Jerry every Wednesday of the school year. Also, it was a place to go online and to read the newspapers or do the crossword or simply pop in and say hello and how are you. Onto new projects and activities for Jerry now and as he says himself - onto a new chapter and onto a new book!!
