Kochouseph Chittilappilly. Born in 1950 at Parappur, a remote village in Thrissur District, Kerala, into a family traditionally engaged in agriculture, he completed his early studies at the village school and went on attain a Master’s Degree in Physics from St. Thomas College, Thrissur. Kochouseph began his career as a Supervisor in an electronics company, where he worked for three years. In 1977, with one Lakh Rupees borrowed from his Father, he set up a company of his own - a modest SSI unit manufacturing and selling stabilizers,

with just 2 workers. Today, with a spectrum of products like Voltage Stabilizers, Pumps, Electric Water Heaters, Solar Water Heaters, Cable, UPS, Ceiling Fans etc, V-Guard Group has grown to become one of the most trusted brand in India.

Kochouseph ventured into the leisure industry the year 2000. He established ‘Veega Land’- one of the most attractive amusement parks in the country, with a spectacular range of rides and entertainment. Located at Pallikara in Kochi, Veega Land has lent a new dimension to the tourism scenario in Kerala. Spurred by the success of Veega Land, the V-Guard Group has set up their second and India’s biggest amusement park - ‘Wonder La’- in Bangalore.

Kochouseph has won many prestigious awards and recognitions for his outstanding proficiency and performance in business, like the ‘Rashtriya Samman’ awarded by the Government of India for the highest tax-payer, ‘Millennium Businessman of Kerala’ by Business Deepika and ‘Tourism Man of the Year 2000’ by Destination Kerala. Kochouseph has also written a book -‘Practical Wisdom ...in real life & management’, which is an account of practical management techniques he derived from his personal experiences. He has, in this book, explained in a simple manner as to how these techniques can be applied effectively in business as well as real life.Kochouseph’s hobbies are reading, listening to music and watching documentary television channels. He is married to Shiela, who spearheads ‘V-Star Creations’ - a subsidiary of V-Guard which manufactures designer garments and lingerie.The couple is blessed with two sons- Arun and Mithun. Arun is the CMD of Wonder La. His wife Priya is also a Director of Wonder La. Mithun is the Director of V-Guard Industries Ltd.

Practical Wisdom

 

Kochouseph Chittilappilly has also authored a book ‘Practical Wisdom…in real life & management’.

It is a compilation of 52 enlightening articles he wrote in the in-house magazine of V-Guard.This book is an account of simple yet effective ways of practical business management in business as well as real life, from his personal experiences, cited through various incidents.

Post-production inspection and certification ensures each individual product that moves off the assembly line conforms to internationally accepted quality and performance benchmarks. V-Guard Stabilizers, UPS, Pumps, Cables, Fans and Electrical Water Heaters are manufactured in state-of-the-art production centers equipped with the latest machinery. The company provides direct employment to 700 people and indirectly to over 5,500 people. It has a network of 83 distributors, 75 service centers and 7000 retailers across the country, to serve more than 40 million satisfied customers.

The Company’s Electro-Controls Division is a state-of-the-art facility for the production of stabilizer cabinets. The Electrical Cable Division located at Coimbatore is a fully automated, ISO 9001 certified facility that manufactures electrical cables starting from 0.25sqmm size to 10sqmm size. The Solar Water Heater plant uses international manufacturing technologies with high quality standards.Regenerative Power

 

Wind Mill

Environment conservation has been one of the core values of V-Guard. With this in mind the company put up two wind energy converters type E30 at Erode in Tamilnadu. ENERCON E-40 high-yield wind energy converters with a capacity of 230 KW. The company currently, producing 13 lakh units per annum which is transferred to the state electricity grid.

A world-class amusement park was something that Cochin lacked. Mr. Kochouseph Chittilappilly turned this lacuna into a business opportunity and Veega Land, the second biggest amusement park in India was born. Built to international standards and meticulously maintained, Veega Land is the first amusement park in the country to be awarded the ISO 14001 – 2004 Certification for environment friendliness and conservation of natural resources.

Veega Land is located at Pallikkara, just 14 kilometers from the heart of Cochin, and is easily accessible. It is a water theme park with a unique blend of technology and sculptured landscape. It has more than 50 exhilarating rides, most of them imported, for people of varying ages. There are several restaurants within the complex serving a variety of food. Ample parking space has also been provided. The park receives thousands of visitors every day. Veega Land won for Mr. Kochouseph Chittilappilly, the Tourism Man of the Year Award in 2000.
