P' Sir, cfII The Academy is organizing a two day Workshop on 'Scientific Investigation of Narcotic Cases' from August 03-04, 2017 for the IPS officers of the rank of Superintendent of Police & above I"'\/"from the States/UTs and CPOs and officials of judiciary officer rank of Senior Civil Judge/District \ I') Judge and Prosecution officer of the rank of Additional Public Prosecutor/Assistant Public Prosecutor and equivalent rank oflRS (Custom & Excise) can participate. . 2. The objectives of the workshop are.- ~. To understand GOI's new policy to curb the menace of drug abuse which contains provisions for treatment, rehabilitation and social re-integration of victims of drug abuse. ~ To understand the procedure for preventing illicit traffic and abuse of narcotic drugs & psychotropic substances. ~ To understand several layers of major drug traffickers in the illicit drug market who from the vital link between the illicit manufacturers /smugglers and the street peddlers. ~ To familiarize the participants with identification kits used in the field. ~ To understand the forfeiture aspects in Chapter Y A and role of Competent Authority 111 its execution. 3. 5. The workshop is residential and the participants of the workshop will be accommodated in thecampus. The expenditure to be incurred on boarding and lodging of the participants shall be metby the Academy. However, the expenditure on account of travel of officers for attending theworkshop may be borne by the respective State Government Organizations. It is also reiterated that asper SOP of the Academy, nominations of only those Officers who have not undergone anyworkshop (except ITC/MCTP) in this Academy during the 12 months preceding the start of theworkshop on 'Scientific Investigation of Narcotic Cases', shall be accepted. In addition, as perSOP of the Academy those Officers against whom criminal case, DE/PE etc. is in currency orcontemplated are also not eligible to undergo any training programme/workshop at the Academy,.Hence, nominations of eligible Officers may only be sent accordingly.

6. A list of Officers who had given their willingness to develop domain expertise in "Narcotics"is enclosed herewith as Annexure-A to this letter. It is requested that while nominating Officers forabove-said workshop, the DGs may give preference to these Officers from their' respectiveStates/UTs and they are exempt from the condition as envisaged at para 5 above, wherein it hasbeen laid down that nominations of only those officers who have not undergone any course in thisAcademy during the last 12 months shall be accepted

7. The dress order for the workshop participants is Civvies i.e. shirt (full sleeves), Trouser & tiefor gentlemen and salwar kameez / saree / Business suit for ladies.

8. The nominees may be advised to proceed for the workshop only after recervmgconfirmation of acceptance of their nominations from the Academy. The officers whosenominations accepted are required to report at the Academy by the evening of August 02, 2017 i.e.one day before the commencement of the workshop. Transport from Hyderabad Airport / railwaystation to the Academy and back will be provided by the Academy.
