The highlight of this th period was the 10 Convocation of the University organized th on 24 December, 2016 with much frevor and gaiety. It was for the first time that the Chancellor's gold medal was conferred to one student of the University. The release of the CD of the Invocation Song (Kulgeet) during the convocation was a pleasing and melodious moment. A good documentary film on constituent colleges and ARS has been prepared by Doordarshan Kisan. Placement Cell and Education Museum was inaugurated by st Hon'ble Chief Minister GoR Smt. Vasundhara Raje on 21 December, 2016. Peaceful bifurcation of assetts between Mohan Lal Sukhadia University and Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture & Technology, Udaipur was accorded in the leadership of Hon'ble Vice-Chancellors of th both Universities on 6 June, 2016. I am happy that a new solar power plant of 100 KW grid has been installed at College of Technology and Engineering. The work accomplished at the adopted village Challi has been really encouraging. During this period the CLSU and CSU elections were conducted smoothly and peacefully in August, 2016. I am proud that our students are obtaining high placements in Government sectors, SAUs and companies of repute with attractive package. I exhort upon all the staff and students to continuously make sincere efforts for the progress of the University. I take pride in presenting the MPUAT Newsletter for the period July to December, 2016. The period is signified with various events and developments essential for quality education, research and extension. The highlight of this

Our extension work has been remarkable in improving the quality of life of rural masses through their livelihood programmes. The work accomplished at the adopted village Challi has been really encouraging. During this period the CLSU and CSU elections were conducted smoothly and peacefully in August, 2016. Tenth University Convocation

The Tenth Convocation of the University was held on

24th December, 2016 in the Vivekanand Auditorium. It was

presided over by Hon'ble Governor and Chancellor Shri Kalyan

Singhji. Shri Prabhu Lal Saini, Hon'ble Agriculture Minister,

GoR and Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, Hon'ble Home Minister,

GoR were the Special Guest for the occasion. Hon'ble

Chancellor released the CD of University Kulgeet and it was

played for the first time in this convocation. The Vice-

Chancellor delivered the convocation speech highlighting the

progress made by the University during past academic year and

also presented the road map for the academic pursuits of the

University.

The Chancellor conferred degrees to 555 passed out

graduates of academic session 2015-16; and 161 post-graduates

and 43 Ph.D. pass out for the period between 1.12.2015 to

30.11.2016. Hon'ble Governor awarded Gold Medals to 42

eligible students along with one Chancellor's Gold Medal and

two Jain Irrigation Medals. One Honorary Doctoral Degree was

Independence Day

Solar Power Plant

Change in nomenclature of existing degree programme

Independence Day function was organized on 15th August, 2016 at University Administrative Office, MPUAT, Udaipur. Chief Guest Prof. U.S. Sharma, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor of the University hoisted the National Flag and addressed the guests, staff members and students of the University. Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor awarded "Appreciation Certificates" and Mementoes to teaching, non-teaching staff members and students for their commendable work and contribution in the University.

A new solar power plant was inaugurated by Hon'ble VC Dr. U.S. Sharma on 5th Nov, 2016 at College of Technology and Engineering, Udaipur. A 100 KW grid connected roof top solar plant has been installed in Electrical Engineering Department with technical support of REIL. Its installation cost is Rs. 80.00 lacs including five years maintenance charges out of which 30% is subsidized by government.

As per the recommendations of V Deans Committee of ICAR it was resolved in Academic Council (14.12.2016) to change the nomenclature of Home Science from 'Faculty of Home Science' to 'Faculty of Community Science' from the academic session 2017-18. The course curriculum of B.Sc.

(Hons.) Community Science has also been developed and approved accordingly. The nomenclature of three of the Departments will also be changed i.e. 'Department of Foods and Nutrition' will now be 'Department of Food Science and Nutrition', 'Department of Home Science Extension and Communication Management' will be 'Department of Extension Education and Communication Management' and 'Department of Family Resource Management' will be named as 'Department of Resource Management and Consumer Science'. A new undergraduate degree programme 'B.Sc. (Hons.) Food, Nutrition and Dietetics' will also be started from academic session 2017-18. Its course curriculum and eligibility criteria for admission has also been approved.

The foundation stone laying ceremony of College of Agriculture, Bhilwara was held on 29th Aug, 2016 at Suvana. The function was presided over by Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. U.S. Sharma. Hon'ble Cabinet Minister Sh. Prabhu Lal Saini, GoR was the Chief Guest of this function. Special guests were Hon'ble Sh. Kalu Lal Gurjar, Chief Whip, GoR, Sh. Subhash Bahedia, MP, Bhilwara and Sh. Vitthal Shankar Awasthi, MLA, Bhilwara.

PG Block of Mechanical Engineering department on the first floor was inaugurated by HVC Dr. U.S. Sharma on 25th July 2016. One new Student Amenities Centre was installed in CTAE and was inaugurated by Hon'ble VC Dr. U.S. Sharma on 5th Nov., 2016. New Solar water heaters were installed in hostel and same was inaugurated by Hon'ble VC Dr. U. S. Sharma on 5th Nov., 2016.

participated in Global Rajasthan Agri-tech Meet (GRAM) during 9-11 November, 2016 organized at JECC, Sitapura, Jaipur. Latest technologies pertaining to agriculture farm machinery, animal husbandry, dairy, poultry, fisheries, home science etc. useful for farming community were displayed through live models, charts, posters, demonstration etc. A book entitled ''Krishi Mei Navachar - Samridhi ki aur Badhte Kadam'' highlighting the farm technologies was published in hindi and released on this occassion.

öOne day Policy Advocacy Dissemination Workshop

öWinter School on ''Innovation in Educational

Technology'' sponsored by ICAR was held during

1-21 December, 2016 in the Department of Extension

Education.

öThe B. Tech. degree of five branches of CTAE namely

Agricultural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mining

Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical

Engineering was accredited by NBA for Tier One on

28th July, 2016.

öA summer school on ''Skill Oriented Entrepreneurship Development for Sustenance of Agriculture Enterprises'' was organised from 2-22 August, 2016 in the Farm Machinery Department.

öA workshop on Bridge Engineering was organized during 26-27 Aug., 2016 by Civil Engineering department in association with E-cell IIT Bombay.

öA Technical quiz was conducted in CTAE on the occasion of Engineer's Day on 15.09.2016.

öTwo days national workshop on ''Patent Drafting, Filing and Processing'' was held on 15-16 Sept., 2016 at CTAE. It was attended by about 110 participants from Industries, Institutes, and Universities from all corners of the country.

öOne week faculty Development Programme on ''Application of Advanced Computational and Measurement Techniques in Research'' was held from 17-22 Oct., 2016 in the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

öThe Mining Camp was organized for II Year B. Tech. Mining students during 19-26 December, 2016 and visited various opencast as well as underground mines such as R.K. Marble Morwad Mines, Wonder Cement

öA training workshop was organized from 26.12.2016

to 07.01. 2017 by Civil Engineering department on

Total station and DGPS by Central Tool Rooms and

Training Centre, Bhubaneswar.

öA Technology Business Incubation Centre supported

by Government of Rajasthan and powered by Start-up

Oasis has been established in the college to inculcate

entrepreneurship among the masses.

öOne day awareness camp on "Adolescent nutrition

with special reference to management of anaemia"

was conducted on 06.08.2016 by Foods and Nutrition

unit of AICRP on Home Science.

öA two days' Workshop on Health, Hygiene and

Sanitation Awareness for Tribal Women sponsored by

Vigyan Prasar, under DST was organized at village

Lakhawali of Badgaon Panchayat Samiti on Oct. 5-6,

2016. About 50 participants were there, comprising

about 25 women from village, 15 Anganwadi and

PHC women staff who will act as Master Trainer later

and 10 adolescent girls from school.

öTwo trainings each of one day were organized on

Prevention and Management of Micro-Nutrient

Deficiency Among Farm Women on 17-18 Nov., 2016

in collaboration with the Indo German watershed

management programme, NABARD-AFPRO. Udaipur.

öUnder MLTC, 17 Refresher Training Courses of six days duration were organized from July to December 2016 in which 276 ICDS supervisors were benefited.

öInauguration of the Basket Ball court at CDFST on 17.10.2016 by HVC, MPUAT, Udaipur.

öErection of Statue of Prof. Raje Singh Rawat in college corridor and awarding Dr. R.S. Rawat Memorial Scholarship to Dairy Technology students w.e.f. 2017-18 on merit cum need basis.

öFive trainings on Agro Food & Dairy Technology were organized by R. K. Sansthan sponsored by Department of Science and Technology for 100 farmers, students and faculty on Agro Food & Dairy Technology during reporting period.

öTwo off-campus demonstrations on 'Processing and Value Addition of Maize' were organized at Sr. Sec. School, Chhali, P.S. Gogunda which was attended by more than 100 villagers during reporting period.

öThe library was strengthened by procuring 52 new titles of text books and 53 e-Books under digitalization of Library.

öStudents and NSS volunteers attended Van Mahotsav celebrated at MPUAT adopted smart village- Chhali on 6th Aug., 2016.

öThree days Heartfulness meditation programme was organised by Moral Education Forum of the College from 5-7 Sept., 2016.

öThe NSS volunteers and students of the college celebrated the Swach Bharat Pakhwara in the month of Nov., 2016.

öDr. O.P. Sharma, Prof. and Dean, College of Fisheries, attended the National Consultation meet on "Higher Fisheries Education" held on the 16th Dec., 2016 at ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Mumbai.

RESEARCH ACTIVITIES

öResearch Council Meeting was organized on July 13,

2016 at Directorate of Research, MPUAT, Udaipur. Dr.

N.C. Patel, Vice-Chancellor, AAU, Anand (Gujarat)

and Dr. S.N. Sharma, Former Dean, SKNCoA, Jobner

participated in the meeting as eminent experts. The

progress of research activities during 2015-16 and plan

of work for 2016-17 was presented.

öICAR Sponsored 21 days Winter School entitled

"Exploitation of underutilized fruits of arid and semi-

arid region" was organized during 4-24 October, 2016

at Directorate of Research, Udaipur. Thirty scientists

of 7 disciplines from 5 states (Punjab, M.P., Rajasthan,

Gujrat and U.P.) participated in the Summer School

training programmes. Eminent Resource persons

delivered 54 lectures including exposure of scientists

to field and laboratory work during the training

programme.

öXII Annual Workshop of the AICRP on Plasticulture

Technology and Engineering was held during 15-16

December, 2016. It was discussed that with the help of

use of plastic sustainable agricultural production

could be achieved in the various crops under

sustainable basis.

3. Income enhancing farming system models (Crop +

Live stock + Goat & other enterprises) for marginal

and small farmers of Southern Rajasthan.

4. IPM modules for pulses and tomato.

5. Application of 75% RDN through chemical fertilizer

+ 25% RDN through FYM+ seed treatment with PSB

& Azospirillum for high yield of sorghum and

succeeding gram.

6. Garlic bulb breaker and garlic clove peeler technology

for high efficiency and net return.

7. Chloranthraniliprole 18.5 SC against pod borer in

chickpea.

8. Technologies for zero tillage, polyhouse cultivation

ö"Swach Bharat Pakhwada" was organized from 1-15

Aug., 2016. This cleanliness campaign was organized

in campus and nearby area of the campus. Essay

competition was also organized.

ö"Agricultural Education Day" was celebrated on

03.12.2016 by organizing programmes in Senior

Secondary School, Pratap Nagar, Bhilwara and

College of Agriculture, Bhilwara.

öCapacity building training cum exposure visit on

"Market Intelligence for Agriculture Production and

Processing" was organized during 11-15 July, 2016.

In this training 19 officers from Department of

Agriculture & Food Production, Government of

Odisha participated.

öMPUAT Van Mahotsav-2016 was celebrated at Tribal

Girls' hostel, Chhali on 6th August 2016. Twenty five

NSS students from College of Fisheries, 12 NSO girls

from College of Home Science and about 200

teachers, boys and girls from Sr. Higher Secondary

School and villagers participated in the function.

öParthenium week (16-22 August, 2016) was

celebrated by KVKs with the purpose to educate

farmers regarding its ill effect and enormous

poisonous nature.

öNational Level two model training courses on "Agri-

Tourism-An Innovative Activity for Generating

Income for Rural Youth" and "Advances in Farm

Mechenizat ion in Enhancing Agricul ture

Productivity" were organized at DEE from 20-27

September, 2016 and 20-27 December, 2016,

respectively. They were sponsored by Ministry of

Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of

India, New Delhi. In these trainings 39 participants

from 10 different states were present.

öKVK, Banswara and Directorate of Extension

Education organized training on Production

technology of Tree borne oilseeds during 20-27

September and 29-30 December, 2016, respectively.

In these trainings 40 line officials from state

department and 10 progressive farmers participated.

öUnder TSP project funded by SKRAU, Bikaner a

training programme on "Safe Storage of Grain" was

organized at KVK, Banswara on 4.10.2016 under the

chairmanship of Dr. S.K. Singh, Director, ATARI,

Jodhpur.

öThe District Level Committee review workshop of

ARYA project was held at KVK, Banswara on 4

October, 2016 under the chairmanship of Dr. S. K.

Singh, Director, ICAR - Agricultural Technology

Application Research Institute Zone-VI, Jodhpur.

öTwo state level training programmes of 5 days'

duration during 3-7 October, 2016 and 17-21 October,

2016 under ATMA scheme on Integrated Farming

Systems and Integrated Water Use Management were

organised. In these trainings 71 farmers and farm

women participated. The farmers were exposed to

IFS model, principles and management, judicious use

of water, irrigation principles and management etc.

DEE organized mid review workshop of KVKs of

MPUAT on 26th November, 2016 with the purpose to

finalize action plan and review progress of KVK.

öKVKs of MPUAT celebrated World Soil Health Day on

5th December, 2016. On this occasion, Kisan Goshtis,

scientist farmer interaction and Kisan Sammelan were

organized and in these programmes 2712 farmers, farm

women and field functionaries participated.

ö KVKs organized 78 on-campus, 183 off-campus and

75 sponsored trainings benefitting 11, 328 farmers,

farm women and extension field functionaries. These

training programmes were on crop production,

horticulture, livestock management, etc.

öWorkshop cum monthly meeting of KVKs of MPUAT

were organized at Krishi Vigyan Kendras, Banswara,

Bhilwara, Chittorgarh and Dungarpur in the month of

July, August, September and October, respectively.

öKVKs organized 21 field days on black gram (Variety

PU-31, Azad 2 & 3), soybean (JS-95-60, RKS-24),

paddy (PS-4), sesame (RT-351) and maize (Bio-

9682). In all 1888 farmers visualized the performance

of improved variety and production technology.

öKVK analyzed 505 soil & water samples of farmers

and provided fertilizer recommendations to the

farmers on soil test report.

öKVKs of MPUAT organized 17 vichar gosthitis, 8

night camps, 4 scientist farmer interaction and

displayed 6 exhibitions and provided latest know how

to farmers.

Van Mahotsav-2016 was celebrated

at Tribal Girls Hostel, Chhali on 6th August 2016. Hon'ble

Vice-Chancellor, MPUAT, Udaipur Dr. Uma Shanker

Sharma was the Chief Guest and Director Extension Dr. G.S.

Tiwari presided over the function. Twenty five NSS students

from College of Fisheries, Udaipur, 12 NSS girls from

College of Home Science, teachers, students from Sr. Higher

Secondary School, Chhali and villagers participated in the

function. 82 mango, guava and lemon plants were planted in

the hostel campus and the pits were dug with tractor drawn

post hole digger machine. Demonstration was given to

farmers about this cost effective technology. Fruit and forest

plant species were distributed to school boys and farmers by

Hon'ble HVC and guests.

A three days farmers training program on

"Upscaling of water productivity" under NICRA project was

organized by Department of Soil and Water Engineering,

CTAE, MPUAT, Udaipur at village Chhali during 22nd to

24th September 2016.The closing session held on 24th

September 2016 was chaired by Dr. I. J. Mathur, Professor

and Manager, ATIC, MPUAT, Udaipur. Dr. Mathur delivered

a lecture on "Importance of crop diversification for

enhancing water productivity". In the closing session, the

various issues related to water were also discussed with the

community.

Three breeding bucks of Sirohi

breed was provided for breed improvement of non-descript

deshi goats on 15th October, 2016. Two bucks were provided

in Undithal and one buck was as in Chhali.

Hon'ble Governor participated in Sangosthi: A

Sangosthi was organized at Chhali on 25th December, 2016.

The Chief Guest of Sangosthi was Hon'ble Governor of

Rajasthan & Chancellor of the University Sh.Kalyan Singh

Ji. Hon'ble MLA Sh.PratapLal Bhil was Guest of Honour.

More than 1700 villagers witnessed the function along with

VIP's, OSD to Governor Sh.A.S.Pandey, ADC Major

Abhimanyu, Distt. Collector Sh.Rohit Gupta and officials

and scientists from the University. Hon'ble Governor

interacted with the villagers and took feedback about the

work done by the MPUAT during last one year and showed

satisfaction about the work accomplished by the University.

He addressed the audience and highlighted the need to

increase the literacy rate with emphasis on female literacy

and education of girls. He stressed that there should be youth

groups in the village and these group should solve day to day

problems of the villagers. Hon'ble Governor inaugurated

Smart Class Room established at Govt. Secondary School,

Kadechawas and laid foundation stone for construction of

class rooms sponsored by IIFL foundation. He also visited

exhibition of MPUAT Technologies, distributed 3 breeding

bucks, 3 knaprack sprayers, school uniforms to students and

scholarship to girls. Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor Dr. Uma

folder on Smart Village Chhali was also released by the

Hon'ble Governor. He also visited Umaria annicut desilted

by the MPUAT.

STUDENT ACTIVITIES

Placement and information bureau

Central students' union

The Directorate contacted placement agencies for on

campus or outside campus in government and different

banks and Agriculture Companies. Total 165 students of

University were recruited in the year 2016. CTAE students

were short-listed for campus or outside campus recruitment

by Reliance GO, Wipro, TCS, IFCO, HZL Vedanta,

Sonalika, J.K. Tyre, Mahindra & Mahindra and Indian Army

etc. CDFST students were recruited in campus by Dairy,

Food & Biotech, Nestle, RCDF, Amul and Mehsana Dairy

etc. RCA students were selected in campus recruitment by

many government sector agencies, National or Private Bank.

CHSc students were recruited by SAUs, NGOs and other

agencies.

The Directorate made all arrangements for peaceful

and fair conduction of Student Election for the year 2016-17

as per directives of the State Government. Students

participated in polling for Central Students' Union (CSU)

and College Level Students' Union (CLSU) in all the

constituent colleges on 17.08.2016. Hon'ble Vice-

Chancellor and Chief Patron of CSU & CLSU Prof. U.S.

Sharma appointed Dr. Y.C. Bhatt, Students' Welfare Officer

as the Chief Electoral Officer and the Deans of the

constituent colleges as Returning officers for CSU Election.

Out of total 3035 students of the constituent colleges, 2516

students casted their votes on 17.08.2016 from 8.00 AM to

1.00 PM. The following students were declared elected for

respective posts after the counting of votes held on

17.08.2016

The Directorate of Students Welfare organized and

celebrated following programes.

1. 14th September, 2016 was celebrated as Hindi Diwas.

On this occasion debate and Kavita Path competition for

University college students was organised.

2. 25th September, 2016 was celebrated as Birthday of

Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhaya and organized Blood

Donation camp in CTAE Campus and 78 unit Blood

was donated by MPUAT students.

3. On 13th November, 2016 organized a lecture of Sh.

Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Nishchalanand

Saraswati ji Maharaj & under Moral Education forum

at CTAE, Udaipur

öFive students of CDFST participated in Model making

competition organized by Hindu Spiritual Society at

Jaipur and got Rs. 5,000/- as consolation prize during

23-25 Sept., 2016.

öAdroit 2016 (16-19 October, 2016): A contingent of 13

students of CDFST participated in National Level

Tech Fest organized by FBTBE, AAU, Anand.

College students got first prize in Model Making.

The University Sports Board organized first phase of

Inter Collegiate Tournament from 18-20 October, 2016 at

RCA, CDFST and Gymnasium. Competitions in Badminton

(Men & Women), Table Tennis (Men & Women), Basketball

(Men & Women), Tennis, Chess and Wrestling were

organized. The tournament was inaugurated by Chief Guest

Prof. U.S. Sharma, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor on 18.10.2017

and Dr. L.K. Murdia, Dean CDFST presided over the

function. About 250 players of all the constituent colleges of

the MPUAT participated in the tournament.

CTAE was Winner in Badminton (Men), Basketball

(Men), Chess, Table Tennis (Men & Women), and Tennis and

Runner's Up in Badminton (Women), Basketball (Women).

Runner's Up in Tennis. CDFST was Runner's Up in

and Chess. CoF was Runner's Up in Table Tennis (Women).

MPUAT Volleyball (Women) Team consisting of 12

players alongwith Team Manager Mr. Yaswant Sharma, USB

participated in West Zone Inter University Volleyball

(Women) Tournament organized at Mohan Lal Sukhadia

University, Udaipur from 15 to 19 December, 2016 under the

aegis of AIU. Our team reached in second round of the event.

Coaching camp for the participation was also organized from

6 to 14 December, 2016.

All the NSS Units enrolled new students as NSS

volunteers for the session 2016-17 and organized the

Orientation Programme. NSS Units of the University also

organized the regular NSS activities and camps in respective

University colleges.

NCC Units at RCA, CTAE & CHSc enrolled new

students as NCC Cadets and organized the regular activities

of parade, drill and attended NCC Training Camps during

this period.
