VeriFire Tools allows you to create and editdatabases for NOTIFIER ONYX™ Series Fire AlarmControl Panels (FACP) and the NCA Network ControlAnnunciator. While online, you may upload ordownload databases, firmware, or custom LCDdisplay images using the integrated Upload/Download facility. Program Check and ReportGenerators are also part of the program.If you are running VeriFire Tools on an NCSPlatform computer, you must use the NCS to uploadand download any new application code ordatabases that were created using VeriFire Tools.

Note: VeriFire Tools is not intended for permanent connection to the firecontrol system.

During a DOWNLOAD OPERATION, the FACP and NCA will NOTperform fire protection and life safety functions. When adownload is finished, the panels will REBOOT in order for theprogramming changes to take effect. After completing an uploadoperation, MAINTAIN A BACKUP of the retrieved data.

This document contains instructions for installing VeriFire Toolssoftware, connecting a PC to the fire control device, and running theprogram’s help files.

Minimum System Requirements

• Windows® 98 Second Edition, ME, XP Professional, NT4.0 with SP5 or Windows® 2000 with SP2 (Windows® 95is not supported).

• PC or laptop with a 300 MHz Pentium® II processor.• 64MB RAM (128MB suggested).• CD-ROM drive.• Mouse and keyboard.• 250 MB free disk space.• XVGA monitor.• Video card capable of supporting 1024 x 768 output

resolution and 16 bit color.• 1 serial (COM) port.

Uninstalling Previous VersionsUninstall any previous versions of VeriFire Tools beforeupgrading. Use the Add/Remove Programs utility located inthe Control Panel to uninstall VeriFire Tools. Any databasesthat were created in previous versions of VeriFire Tools willnot be removed by this process.

Installing the Software1. Insert the VeriFire Tools CD into your PC’s CD-ROM

drive.2. If the install program does not automatically start, select

Run from the Windows® Start menu. Use the Browsebutton to navigate to the CD-ROM drive and open thefile: VeriFireTools.exe.

3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete theinstallation.

COM Port ConfigurationBefore VeriFire Tools can connect to a fire panel or NCA,you must properly configure the COM Port on your PC. Todo so, follow the steps below:1. Plug the DP9-NUP cable (P/N 75554) into the serial port

of the PC. Connect the other end of the cable to theFACP or NCA.

2. From the Windows® Start menu, selectPrograms>VeriFire Tools>Serial Port ConfigurationUtility.

3. Select Auto Configuration.

Once the COM Port has been configured, the VeriFireTools will communicate with the FACP or NCA.

NWS ConfigurationVeriFire Tools can also connect to a fire control network viathe Internet through a NOTI•FIRE•NET Web Server (NWS).When connected to the network through the NWS, VeriFireTools can access any panel on the network.• Follow your system administrator’s instructions to

connect your PC or laptop to the Internet.• Refer to the NFN Web Server manual for information on

how to login to your NFN Web Server.
