PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAY, OCTOBER 27, 2015
This year students will have the opportunity to choose one of two programs to satisfy their Professional Development Day requirement. It is a graduation requirement that all 1RD, 1ED, 2RD, 2ED and 3RD students attend one of these sessions. 4ED students have already met their Professional Development Day obligations so are not required to attend but may do so if they choose. Check the Professional Development Day TWEN Page for more information and to sign up for your program.
CHARACTER AND FITNESS—5:15 P.M.—6:15 P.M.
Every jurisdiction requires bar applicants to meet the burden of showing they are of good moral character and otherwise fit to practice law. Are you ready to meet that burden? The first step toward satisfying the Character and Fitness Requirement is understanding what is expected of you. Whether you are a first-year student or a student taking the bar next February or July you need to be able to answer these two questions: Is there anything in my past (or present) that might bring my character and fitness into question? AND If my character is in question, what can I do now to begin to rehabilitate my reputation? A representative from the Pennsylvania Board of Law Examiners will discuss this important topic.
DEBT MANAGEMENT—6:30—7:30 P.M.
Kara Wealand, the Assistant Director of the Financial Aid Office, will provide advice on ways to manage your debt. Some of the topics she will discuss are: Federal Repayment Plan Options, Income Driven Repayment Plans, Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program and Loan Consolidation. Financial literacy handouts will be provided to help guide you through the program.
REGISTRATION
Registration is open and you may sign up using the Professional Development TWEN Page. Both programs will be held in A180. Though you are only required to attend one program you are welcome to attend both.
Section 504 of the Academic Code makes attendance mandatory for 1RD, 1ED, 2RD, 2ED, 3RD and 3ED students.
