Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)Solution focused Brief Therapy (SfBT) examines the philosophical foundation of social constructivism, successful termination criteria in goal negotiations and theSfBT approach of interviewing for solutions. This noncreditonline course is for therapists from all over the world including practitioners from the u.S., Australia, Europe, Asia and South Africa. A true community of professionals

Trauma Counseling Certificate (TCC)This series is a multidisciplinary training program for thosewho work with trauma survivors of abuse, violence, war, accident, crime and disaster. It consists of 84 clock hours ofclassroom instruction presented in two 42-hour courses. Allinstructors have been involved in diverse areas of traumacounseling with a variety of traumatized populations in acuteto chronic situations. Courses may be taken for graduatecredit or continuing education units, which may also be usedfor licensing and certification requirements. The program isopen to clinicians and practitioners in the medical, mentaland behavioral health services as well as social service, pastoral and bereavement counselors who work with survivorsof substance use, eating disorders, physical illness, criminaljustice, rehabilitation, and recovery.

Completion of the two Trauma Counseling courses results in a Certificate of Completion, which may be used to applyfor certification as a Trauma Services Specialist or TraumaSpecialist with the Association of Traumatic Stress Specialists.sce-counseling.uwm.edu

Family Mediation CertificateFMC

This 40-hour mediation certificate course provides the necessary background for conflictresolution services in all aspects of family concerns from divorce, custody disputes, separationof never-married or same-gender couples to intact marriages, family businesses and estates.It meets the criteria for Wisconsin Act 355 mediating parenting plans, Wisconsin Associationof mediators model Standards for Training and received the approval of the Association forConflict resolution. The pre-approval eliminates delay and eases the application processfor designation of Advanced Practitioner.

This course is distinguished by its focus on strengthening family functioning in the contextof adversity. The foundation can be applied to any process for managing disputes.

Elder Care Mediation learn to manage family dynamics, identifyneeds and protect elderly from the risk ofabuse. Help elders and their families makedecisions and resolve disputes such asacute and long-term care issues, familyissues, adult guardianship, end of lifedecisions and estate matters.

How to EnrollEnrolling for School of Continuing Education courses is quick and easy! Select the option most convenient for you. Please include the keycode located on the back cover of the catalog to the left of your name with your registration.

Program Cancellations/Refunds*A full refund is issued to program participants if the School of Continuing Education cancels a programfor any reason. Participant withdrawals made at least two weeks (14 days) prior to the start of aprogram can receive a 100% refund. When a participant withdraws less than two weeks prior to theprogram start, participants may have their fees transferred one time to any currently available program,otherwise participants will receive a refund minus a 20% administrative fee. for programs with a fee of$35 or less, no refund will be given, if a participant withdraws within two weeks of the start date.
