    Quantum Global Campus

    1. Germany for Internship

It’s very aptly said that if one’s will and desire is strong then his hard work certainly bears fruits! If one’s decision has power then his destiny itself walks and knocks the door! Something very similar happened at Quantum Global Campus, whose two of its students Chanderkant Vaid (Mechatronics Engineering, 3rd year) and Kanchan Jirel (Computer Science Engineering, 2nd year) got opportunity through campus to visit Germany. This opportunity has added joyous moments in Quantum’s history which is likely to be unforgettable by anyone in future.

It is worth pondering that a milestone was reached last year in the field of Robotics when MOU was signed between Quantum Global Campus and APS GmbH, European Centre for Mechatronics, Germany. The agenda of the entire collaboration was to provide platform to the students of Quantum so that they can create their future in the field of Robotics. Under this collaboration, “Advanced Robotic Control Lab” was set up at Quantum on 22nd August, 2015 in which 12 weeks full-fledged course arrangement was made. Students of Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electricals and Electronics Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Information and Technology and Mechatronics Engineering participated with heart and soul.

This outcome is truly the result of hard work done by the students and faculties who have burnt the midnight oil to achieve this day where two of its students have been selected for unpaid scholarship training in Germany. These two students were selected under the guidance of Professors of Quantum and Germany. Through this curriculum students can truly excel in the field of Robotics and Automation and create their dynamic future by availing the opportunities in the same field. According to the sources, information obtained by Quantum Global Campus, two of its selected students are currently in Germany for their training in Automation Robotics (Mechatronics). The students are in touch with the campus through skype, etc and have shared their excitement gesture for the training opportunity they have received through the campus. Also, the experiences being shared by these students have increased enthusiasm and vigour among the rest of the students in the campus towards the field of Robotics and Automation.

    3. Newly Developed Mechanical Walker

A new technique based mechanical walker has been developed by mechanical Engineering students Ayush Singhal, Raushan Mishra, Sumit Kumar, Surya Prakash and Vivek Kumar under the supervision of Mr. Pramod Kumar HOD Mechanical Engineering Department.

How To Work – A six-bar linkage is a one degree of freedom mechanism that is constructed from six links and seven joints. An example is the Klan linkage used to drive the legs of a walking machine. In general, each joint of a linkage connects two links, and a binary link supports two joints. If we consider a hexagon to be constructed from six binary links with six of the seven joints forming its vertices, then the seventh joint can be added to connect two sides of the hexagon to forming a six-bar linkage with two ternary links connected by one joint. This type of six-bar linkage is said to have the Watt topology. A six-bar linkage can also be constructed by first assembling five binary links in to a pentagon, which uses five of the seven joints and then completing the linkage by adding a binary link that connects two sides of the pentagon. This again creates two ternary links that are now separated by one or more binary links. This type of six-bar linkage is said to have the Stephenson topology. The Klan linkage has the Stephenson topology. Klan mechanism is a planer mechanism designed to simulate the giant legged animal and function as a wheel replacement. Here we are using a single leg consists of a six-bar linkage made up entirely of pivot joint that converts rotating motion into linear motion. The linkage consists of the frame, a crank, two grounded rockers, and two couplers all connected by pivot joints. The proportions of each of the links in the mechanism are defined to optimize the linearity of the foot for one-half of the rotating of the crank. Applications-

It can be use in the wheel chair to step up on stairs. It can be use were the land is not proper and wheels can’t

operate. If this mechanism is used tanks for war, so that tanks may

climb on the hills. It can be used in robots.

    4. Hybrid Braking System

The RCEians Arun Kumar Singh, Kunal Srivastava, Mohd. Tabis Alam, Anoop Kashyap and Mehtab Alam developed Hybrid Braking System under the guidance of Mr. Pramod Kumar HOD Mechanical Engineering Department. In locomotive diesel engine use know that pneumatic brake is used but in hybrid braking system use have modified braking system of locomotive diesel engine, in this modification is done on both mechanism.

Type of break used. Mechanism of brake.

In this, we have used electromagnetic brake instead of pneumatic brake, which is not trend now. In this braking system brakes are applying on track instead of applying on wheel. By this braking mechanism use can produce more braking force in less time and a smooth braking without jerk.

CII Mentorship Programme for Higher Education

As you would be aware, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has been conducting the Indpact Survey, i.e., a survey of industry linkages of technical institutes in partnership with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for the past four years with the objective of mapping the extent and depth of these linkages in India. Over the years, more than 3000 institutes have participated in this survey, assessed their performance and learnt where they stand vis a vis other institutes in different

categories. One consistent finding of the survey has been that less than 15 per cent of the participating institutes have demonstrated high industry linkages while majority (70 per cent) falling in the medium category and 15 per cent in the low industry linkages category. To help these 85 per cent institutes improve their performance and also the employability of their students, CII has started a mentorship programme to provide guidance and support to students, faculty and academic leaders. The CII Mentorship Programme for Higher Education was launched at the ‘Global Exhibition on Services’ on 21st April. The programme offers courses for faculty and students at subsidised rates and more courses are in the process of being added.
