UTSA Downtown

UTSA Dowhtown is located in Cypress Tower, 1222 N. Main, and offers a wide range of courses for undergraduate and graduate students. The fall 1994 semester marks the first time UTSA offers several freshman and sophomore-level courses in addition to upper division and graduate courses.

The Cypress Tower campus comprises the first, fourth and seventh floors of the building. The first floor contains 10 classrooms, conference rooms, an architecture studio and seminar rooms. It also includes a learning resource center, which is a combination library and computing facility. The center's on-line computers link to the UTSA campus library, and a twice-a-day shuttle from the main campus to UTSA Downtown delivers any requests.

UTSA Downtown's administrative, faculty and outreach program offices are located on the fourth and seventh floors. The six Economic Development Centers and the Extended Education Office are also located on the upper floors.

Cypress Tower also houses a canteen on the first floor and a cafeteria on the lower level.

Downtown convenience UTSA's downtown campus is especially convenient to students who are transferring to upper-division courses from community colleges, to working professionals and to students who live near downtown San Antonio.

A parking lot on Main Street west of Cypress Tower is reserved exclusively for UTSA students and faculty who have regular UTSA parking permits. The brightly lit lot is patrolled by UTSA police officers.

UTSA Downtown moved into Cypress Tower in January 1994 from the Institute of Texan Cultures where it had been located since the fall of 1991. The University will continue to lease space in Cypress Tower while a new, $20-million facility is being constructed on Durango Street. The 140,000-square-foot campus is scheduled to open by the spring of 1997.
