Sparrow from Minsk, is a Belarusian, Soviet-born gymnast who won four gold medals and two silver medals at the Summer OlympicsAt the 1972 Olympics, her acrobatics and open display of emotion—notably, she wiped tears from her face after a disastrous uneven bars routine—in contrast to the stereotypically cold eastern bloc athlete, captivated the Munich audiencesThe Soviet coaches and officials had designated X as the woman who could beat the Romanian prodigy, Nadia Comaneci, in the 1976 Summer Olympics at Montreal, but X was injured and her performances in the games were under-par, she also contributed to a marked change in the tenor of the sport itself. Prior to 1972, the athletes were generally older and the focus was on elegance rather than acrobatics. In the decade after X Olympic debut, the emphasis was reversed.

During pre-game infield practice, Reese, the captain of the team, went over to Robinson, engaged him in conversation, and put his arm around his shoulder in a gesture of support which silenced the crowd. • While in the army, he entered the armed forces boxing tournament as a heavyweight and ran up a 12-0 record before being waylaid by a broken ankle. Future World Professional Boxing Champion Gene Tunney won the tournament. In later years, Kelly would kid Tunney that: "Aren't you lucky I broke my ankle?"

• • • In 1920, Kelly applied to race in the Diamond Sculls at the Henley Royal Regatta. At the

time, he was one of the most popular figures in the sport: He had won six U.S. National Championships and in the midst of his 126-race winning streak.[1]

• At the time, the Henley regatta, which is held annually on the River Thames in Henley, England, was the most prestigious event in rowing. Kelly's application was rejected in part because he had done manual labor as a bricklayer. The rejection became widely publicized. This led Kelly to seek and gain redemption by going to the 1920 Summer Olympics which he had originally not planned to attend.

• BILL ORILEY• • And when he went to the teachers' college at Sydney University in his late teens he was more interested in such

events as the hop, step and jump, in which he held the state record. According to Fingleton's account he would probably have been lost to cricket had he not been asked to make up the numbers in a Sydney junior match and, with a method that at first made everyone giggle, whipped out the opposition.

• • • In the summer of 1925-26, the young O'Reilly, by now an undergraduate at the teachers' college in Sydney

University, met the man whose destiny was to be linked with his for ever. O'Reilly's own account of this remains a classic. He was passing through Bowral Station on his way home to Wingello for his summer holiday when he heard his name being called down the platform. He put his head out of the carriage window and was told to get out at once: Wingello were playing at Bowral and needed him.

• • How was I to know that I was about to cross swords with the greatest cricketer that ever set foot on a cricket field ?

He didn't have it all his own way, let me tell you. Well, not for the first couple of overs, anyway. By the close of play, 17-year-old Don Bradman was 234 not out. The match resumed a week later, according to the local custom. The sun shone, the birds sang sweetly and the flowers bloomed as never before. I bowled him first ball with a leg-break which came from the leg stump to hit the off bail. Suddenly cricket was the best game in the whole wide world.

• • . While Sir Donald walked the corridors of cricketing power O'Reilly was the rumbustious backbencher.

• X's mother felt that he wasn't the most talented cricketer she'd seen. She reserved that accolade for Mervin, her other son. Mention it to Mervin and he says: "Nah. I was probably more wristy and stylish but X was something else."

Football was Mervin’s preferred sport. "We played a lot of football. X was in defense, me in midfield. X had a great leap. He could clear from dangerous positions. He would often come from behind and score. Football lost a great defender in X."

• In the 20th century, only 2 players have claim to this feat. In the 2000's, 3 players are part of this unique club - Mashrafe Mortaza and Nazmul Hossain of Bangladesh, and Yasir Ali of Pakistan. Mashrafe's achievement came in a test against Zimbabwe in the 2001-02 season; Yasir Ali's in a test against Bangladesh in 2004; and Nazmul Hossain in a test against India in Chittagong (2005).

X came to Shakespeare by accident in WWI when his bunkmate vomited on him and apologized to him by giving him Hamlet. X soon found himself exploring more of Shakespeare, and even claimed to have read Shakespeare before each fight.

X's Yale stint led to a play X / Shakespeare in Six Rounds (2007). The play ends in X's self revelation about the his bout with Dempsey. Dempsey, who had been unpopular suddenly became the public darling while X became unpopular due to his technical KO win.

X explains that, like many of Shakespeare's anti-heroes, he was unable to make himself loveable in the eyes of the public.

• The X are believed to have first used the "Ka Mate" Y in 1906.• This Y is commonly said to have been composed by Te Rauparaha

of Ngāti Toa to commemorate his escape from death during an incident in 1810. Chased by his enemies he hid in a food-storage pit under the skirt of a woman. He climbed out to find someone standing over him, who, instead of killing Te Rauparaha, turned out to be another chief friendly to him. In relief Te Rauparaha performed this ancient Y, which had been performed all through Aotearoa for centuries (Ko Nga Moteatea, 1853). The story of Te Rauparaha was merely woven into several older stories about this Y. There is no “official” Y for X, but Te Rauparaha's “Ka Mate” is generally favoured though sometimes there have been variations.

• In 1946, Danny Biasone sent a $5,000 check to the National Basketball League offices in Chicago, and the Syracuse Nationals became the largely Midwest-based league's easternmost team.[1] In 1949, the Nationals were one of seven NBL teams that merged with the Basketball Association of America to form the NBA. In 1955, the Nationals (led by forward Dolph Schayes) won the NBA championship.

• By the early 1960s, the NBA's Nationals were struggling. Syracuse was the last of the medium-sized cities, but it was too small for a professional team to be profitable. Paper magnate Irv Kosloff bought the Nationals from Danny Biasone and moved them to X in 1963. The NBA thus returned to X one year after the X Warriors had left for San Francisco. A contest was held to decide on their new name and the winner was Walt Stahlberg. Their name was changed to the “Yers", after Y, the year the Z was signed in X. ID X

She started 1936 olympics as favourite to win but an American, Helen Stephens won the race and was consequently accused of being a man. Despite the claims , the examination showed that she was a woman and she was allowed to retain the gold.

• X was a bystander in an armed robbery in Cleveland, Ohio on 4 December 1980, and was killed at the age of 69. An autopsy showed that she possessed male[genitalia, although some sources suggest she also displayed some female characteristics Detailed investigation has also revealed that she had both an XX and an XY pair of chromosomes.

• The controversy on her biological sex remains unresolved, and the situation is further complicated by the fact that many earlier documents, including her birth record, state that she was female.[3] There was also some controversy as to whether all her records and achievements should be erased.

• The case of X is often regarded as one of the reasons why the IOC has gradually dropped gender determination tests. In the end, such a requirement was dropped prior to the 2000 Summer Olympics, as it was decided that genetic gender is not necessarily equal to social or biological gender. However, the issue is once again of importance with the International Association of Athletics Federations ordering and conducting gender determination testing on South African Caster Semenya, in August 2009, the results of which have yet to be formally released.
