BOG Grant- CSIT TEAm Project■ In April 2014, the Florida’s Board of Governors awarded $15

million in grants to State University Systems (SUS institutions to produce more students for careers in the state’s highest-need areas, as identified by a comprehensive BOG GAP Analysis.

■ The project titled CSIT (UCF-USF-FIU) TEAm, is an urban university coalition response to Florida’s Computer and Information Technology workforce needs.

■ The project was modelled to:

offer online unique specialized course offerings

grant employers access to student talent through a one stop process

serve to retain talent in central/southern Florida by creating a regional resource and workforce climate to counteract talent migration to Western U.S.

The Florida State University System (SUS) consists of 12 state funded universities throughout the

State of Florida. These three universities, located in Florida’s three largest metropolitan areas,

produce nearly half of the baccalaureate degrees awarded by Florida’s state universities and

serve 70% of Florida’s ethnic and racial minority populations.

About 25% of the state’s new computer science professionals graduate from the University of

Central Florida; one of the top 19 programs in the country.

The three universities account for over than 60% of the jobs in these majors and over 70% of the jobs in Technology

Collaborative Activity: Virtual Career Fair (VCF)

The three institutions held the first collaborative Virtual Career Fair (VCF) in April, 2015.

The VCF was a successful event; the first Virtual Career Fair in the history of career services at UCF, USF, and FIU.

This event is held bi annually in spring and fall..

TEAm Internships PortalFirst Phase of Implementation

The first phase of implementation of the portal has beencompleted. This phase allows students to view internshipopportunities related to the TEAm majors. The TEAm portaldatabase is populated by using an RSS data feed or XMLdata feed to import the relevant job listings from the threeinstitutional databases.

Second Phase of Implementation

This phase, still under development, will allow students tosubmit applications and upload their resumes. The targetdate for finishing this phase is Spring 2016 with plans forfurther enhancement and a pilot testing of the portal by theend of Summer 2016.
