the solution offered, FME providesdesign and auto CAD services, procurement of materials, fabrication, machining, surface preparation &finishing as well as final installation atthe customer location.
The Handling RequirementsFME operates two sites – one located inSharjah and one located in Ajman - andemploys 150 skilled and unskilledpersonnel.
The company uses forklift trucks totransfer raw materials as well ascompleted products around the sites.Previously, the company had one 5.5tHyster machine, which was operating atthe smaller Ajman site. When thecompany expanded and the new sitewas opened in Sharjah in 2012, asecond forklift truck was required.
Initially, FME was looking for a usedmachine, as they did not believe thatthey could afford a new truck thatwould be capable of doing the workrequired. Furthermore the truck neededto be simple to operate and maintain, not only to ensure that the operatorwas comfortable with driving the truck, but also to keep the overall cost ofoperating the equipment down.
The TruckKanoo Machinery presented an offer ofa UTILEV UT30P 3.0t Diesel. Thecustomer was impressed with thetrucks operational capability and thepurchase was made. The UTILEV truckhas been in operation for 4 months (toNovember 2012) – the first two monthsat the Ajman location and currently atthe Sharjah location, where it is used
for moving lighter rawmaterials and finishedproducts around the siteand onto trailers fortransport – heaviermaterials are moved bythe onsite crane.
PerformanceIn total, the truck has
been operating for 610 hours, at anaverage of 4 hours per day, with thedaily checks completed as scheduled.FME has experienced no issues to dateand is impressed with the robustnessand reliability of the truck and its abilityto carry out the work at hand efficiently. The first service was provided by KanooMachinery, as part of the sale, and thecustomer is confident that he has madethe right purchase, thanks to theefficient support provided by Kanoo andby the fact that they are always on handto provide assistance when required.
