Summary
Incumbents in the Data Analyst series collect, evaluate, and prepare research and/or other complex statistical data. Incumbents prepare statistical and narrative reports and recommendations, and participate in the analysis and interpretation of data as appropriate.
Reporting and Supervisory Responsibilities
This classification has no supervisory responsibilities.
Typical Functions
1. Develops, maintains, and ensures quality control of databases and may assist in the development and implementation of measurement systems.
2. Collects, analyzes, interprets, and summarizes data in preparation for generation of statistical and analytical reports.
3. Maintains computerized collection and tracking of relevant data.4. Maintains appropriate records of research methods and results.5. Designs and/or develops specific databases for collection, tracking, and reporting of data, as
appropriate. 6. Utilizes specified statistical software to analyze and interpret research data.7. Serves as a liaison with outside departments.8. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
1. Records maintenance skills.2. Knowledge of scientific writing.3. Ability to gather and analyze statistical data and generate reports.4. Ability to prepare research reports and proposals.5. Ability to design and implement systems necessary to collect, maintain, and analyze data.6. Ability to utilize statistical computer software.7. Knowledge of research methodology, principles, and procedures.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Bachelor’s degree in related field or an equivalent combination of education plus experience is required.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions.
