The modern chemical industry faces multi-

When working with chemicals, safety is
paramount. Uncontrolled chemical reac-
tions can create serious incidents with the
risk of injury to personnel and damage to
property and the environment. In spite of
this, it is still common practice to load re-
actors with powder manually, through an
open manhole. The innovative DEC PTS
(Powder Transfer System) has many ad-
vantages over conventional powder con-
veying systems, particularly when charging
pressure vessels.

POWDER SAMPLING
Chemical processes are often run continu-
ously. Dec has developed the PFL Powder-
flex System for continuous feeding - even
over long distances. The PFL provides con-
tinuous and precise dosing and conveyance
of small to medium quantities of powder,
whether the requirement is for controlled
charging of powders into continuous pro-
duction processes or pre-determined preci-
sion dosing.
Most powder sampling systems employed in
the Chemical Process Industries (CPI) are
mechanical, involving complex rotating
parts. The development of new techniques
allowing more accurate and representative
sampling for quality assessment and other
purposes at each stage of production is in-
evitable. The patented MPTS (Micro Powder
Transfer System) makes it possible to take
powder samples without mechanical devic-
es directly from equipment such as dryers,
mixers, packaging stations - even remotely
controlled.

SUPER SKIDS
This modular distillation plant by Sulzer
Chemtech includes the column (with associ-
ated packing and internals), condensers,
reboilers, instrumentation, control panels,
& safety stairways.
This IPEC seed fermenter skid system
(above & left) integrates a chiller sys-
tems, and is used to scale up to full scale
fermenters on the world’s first large
scale bio-succinic acid plant.
This 3-module IPEC Formulation
Plant is designed to receive totes of
material from an overseas plant,
and formulate customized mixtures
to meet specific customer require-
ments. The system was designed to
be moved to another (remote) loca-
tion near the end-user base, once
proof-of-concept was completed at
a headquarters plant.
This SGL Carbon plant is used to produce 80 t/d
of HCl gas and 40 t/d of 37% hydrochloric acid in
three pre-assembled units mounted on skids.
The Alfa Laval plate evaporator plant is used for
concentration of caustic soda from the customer's
membrane process from 32% to the 50% that the
market requires.
