The sword is a symbol of authority worn by cadet officers out in the field during ROTC training. This will
be worn with a sword band, breast plate with the gala uniform (during official/special parades) BDUs
(fatigue uniform – during regular Sunday training), type B uniform (ROTC shirt and BDU/fatigue pants)
during practice.
There will be one white tassle and one yellow tassle braided at the end of the handle of the sword and
will be locked there by shooting the tassles inside the other end of the O string. No metal O rings
needed. The tassle will be around 3” in length from the hole of the sword so that if the officer is
required to spin the sword – the tassle won’t be on the way of the spin (fancy sword drills).
The saber is only worn by the Corps Commander & will be worn only WHEN wearing the gala uniform.
