As a GIS Assistant at the Global

Institute of Sustainability (GIOS)

at Arizona State University, Jeff

is responsible for database

management and enhancement

for both the Central Arizona-

Phoenix Long-Term Ecological

Research (CAP/LTER) and

Energize Phoenix projects.

CAP/LTER experience includes

identifying and resolving data

quality issues. Jeff used SQL and

ModelBuilder to automate the

majority of the repair processes

and the updates of all respective

metadata. To increase efficiency

of data collection for the Energ

Phoenix project Jeff

recommended surveyors use the

GIS-PRO application on an

iPadDuring data collection Jeff

extracted data on a weekly basis.

This is where you find

a parallel between

the project goals and

your skills. To be able

to provide a simple

and clean user

interface that delivers

effective information.

Intentional design for

a multi-cultural

audience.

One click allows the

user interface to be

translated into the

user’s native

language.

Understanding urban

sustainability and

improving the ability

of policy makers to

achieve sustainable

management. A

Research

Coordination

Network is a project

supported by the

National Science

Foundation to bring

together, analyze,

and use existing

research. This project

is supported by the

SEES Program at NSF.

“My vision is that a

global/interactive map

tool be developed

for our urban

sustainability RCN. {…}

to show who works on

the climate issues - ie.,

who are the think tanks

on climate research,

and what I like about

this map is that you can

select specific tabs, like

Sustainable Cities and

find information about

those "think tanks" on

sustainable cities.
