A02 : installation

• The last Setup should be used ( version number + date)

• Copy all the installation files always in the same folder (ex : c:\Tig6\Install)

When an upgrade must be done :

– Back-up the database.

– Launch the new setup, from the same folder than the first installation.

• In the next future the cloud will be used for the updates.

• The installation guide describes all the steps to install TIG.

B07 : Structure : plant (1)



1. Plant structure logic • If a plant Structure already existed (CMMS software, paper…) : use

exactly the same division.

• If no previous Structure exists, use Geographical, Economical, Logic

divisions.

2. Number of levels • No limit to the number of plant-sublevels, but 4 should be enough.

• The number of levels in each ramification is free (one branch can have

1 level, the other 3 levels…)

• The survey itself can be the 1st level as TIG can manage several

surveys.

• The machine must be placed in the last level of its branch.



3. Characteristics of a level • Name : alphanumeric.

• Code : alphanumeric.

4. Codification of the levels • The code must be unique within the survey.

• Number of significant characters in the code should be the same for one

level (ex : B001, B002…)

• The first characters of a sub-level code can be the code of its upper

level : level 1 = B001, level 2 = B001-01.

• Always use the codification of an existing structure.

• TIG 6 can generate the codes for the user.


B10 : Structure : machine (1)


B11 : Machine structure logic

1. If a machine division or Structure already existed

(CMMS software, paper…) : use exactly the same

division.

2. If no previous division exists, use the most logical one

for all the users.

3. It’s sometimes more easy to define first :

• The Machine.

• Then the Point (where the product is located)

• And only after the Part which is between the machine and the point.

4. The same division must be used for all the machines in

the survey.


B12 : Machine : guidelines

1. The Machine is the most important part of the survey.

2. All the sub-levels (Part / Point / Operation / Product) can

be accessed by the machine.

3. All the upper levels (plant levels) can be connected to

the machine.

4. The Route code (used for lubrication route) is connected

to the machine.


B13 : Machine field

1. Code : Alphanumeric (no number of characters limit )

2. Name (Description) : Alphanumeric (no number of characters

limit)

3. The code must be unique within the survey and is specific to

the machine

4. All the other fields are optional but the more information

(manufacturer, serial number, type, picture,…) you collect

about a machine the more accurate the final survey is.


B14 : Part guidelines

1. The Part is a subdivision of the machine and is the

upper level of the points.

2. The part is defined by a code (unique within the

machine) and a name.

3. Always use the same logic (and the same code/name)

for the same parts of different machines of the survey

4. The part can be very different from one plant to another

and can be sometimes difficult to define.

B16 : Point definition

1. The Point is a subdivision of the part and is the place

where the product (lubricant) is located.

2. The point is defined by a name and a code.

3. On the point you affect :

• A product (lubricant, spare part)

• A capacity

• One of several operations


B17 : Point guidelines

1. As Point contains the Product it can be defined by a

specific name :

• Hydraulic tank, Crank housing, Crank case… (for oils)

• Grease cup, Grease fitting … (for greases)

• Filter housing, Chain housing, … (for maintenance)

2. Don’t forget to indicate the number identical points

• Grease cups (x2), Oilers (x3) ….

B19 : Codes definition

1. Use already existing codes

• Especially for Plant Levels, Machines and Products

• If there is no previous codification :

Define a new one which is logical for the user

Always use the same codification for the whole survey

2. Codes must be homogeneous

• Each code of one same level (plant level, machine, product …) must

have the same significant number of characters (ex: 0215 & 1050, PO-

256 & PO-312.

• Use upper case letters.


B20 : Operations definition

1. Make distinction between the point, the product and the

operation

• If a filter change must be enter in the survey :

The Point = ‘Filter – housing’

The Product = ‘Filter’ (with all its references)

The Operation = ‘Change every year’

• In the previous example the operation is not ‘change the filter’

2. Make distinction between lubrication and maintenance

operations name

• For lubrication : Top-Up, Drain, Sampling …

• For Maintenance : Control, Change, Collect …


B21 : Operation guidelines

1. Use the description of the operation as its name.

2. Define the most important operation for a point (and this

operation will be the one using all capacity in TIG

survey)

• For lubrication = Drain, Regreasing

• For Maintenance = Change, Replace …

3. Choose if the machine must be stopped to perform the

operation.


B22 : Operation : frequency

1. Use index unit (Hours, Km, pieces) only if the machine

(or the part) has really an index meter.

2. If the frequency unit is with an index, write the value of

the index with its collection date.

3. For calendar units, be careful that weeks and days are

not the same as months and years :

• 52 weeks ≠ 1 year (but 12 months = 1 year)

• 30 days ≠ 1 month

4. Always use the same calendar unit for the operations

affected on the same point

• Ex : Drain every year, Level/Top-Up every month

1. Make distinction between lubricant and maintenance

product

• Lubricant = Oil or grease

• Maintenance = Filter, Chain, Temperature…

2. Use the exact denomination of the product

• For lubricant : name + grade (I.e Azolla ZS 46)

• You can change all the default labels used by TIG by your own labels.

• Click on the tab "Structure" to display the structure window :

• Click on the level 0 in the tree window to display the data grid











• Click on "Save" :

• Then enter all the levels S1 :



• All the levels S1 are now created :



• Select in the tree the level where you want to add a sub-level:

(1 – Quarry)

• Then click on "Add" et select "structure" :



• Type the code and name of the sub-level S2 and "Save"

• Repeat the operations for all the levels and sub-levels :



• All the plant structure is now created :



• You can print it by "Print" and Structure (Tree) :



G. Using TIG : Suppliers / Packages

• The suppliers and packages management is available in the

"References" module :

Month, Year) or on a Meter (Hours, km)

• Use meter based frequency only if a ‘real’ meter is present on the

machine.

• The Drain / Replacement is the most important operation on the

point.

K. Using TIG : Access levels


K01 : Access levels


• 4 access levels are available within TIG

• Once the database is completed, it is good policy to restrict the

access, especially under a network environment.

• The level 1 (superadmin) is needed only to fully customize TIG,

with all the risks implied.

K02 : TIG users


• The number of users is not limited.

• A user is defined by : – A name

– An access level

– A password

K03 : Restriction to a sub-level


• The access 2 users(user) can be restricted to one or more sub-levels.

• They will be able to view the data for the whole survey.

• But will be able to schedule and validate only their own sub-levels. :

K04 : Some guidelines


• Don’t forget your password !

• Ask to Total Lubricants if you need some specific needs.

• All the roles & accesses can be reprogrammed (by Total TIG administrator)

L. Using TIG : Backup / Restore


L01 : Backup



• Click on to launch the backup.

L02 : Backup


• You can do as many backups as you want.

• It’s a good policy to send the backup files on a network folder.

• The folder and the automatic backup can be customized (see D8)

• The name of the backup will be build with :

– Name of the database

– Date and time of backup

L03 : Restore


• Use the restore process only in case of ‘incident’ or ‘error’.

• The active data will be replaced by the data present in the backup file.

• All the changes or additions made after the backup file will be lost.

M. Documentations management


• Document = any reference to a file (pdf,xls, doc, …) or a web site.

• They can be linked to the machine/part/point, product ,…

• Then they can be opened directly by a single click.

function.

• This option is very powerful but can be dangerous too.

• Ex : Replace the activity “Other” by “Level/Top-up” for all the operations

containing the words “Level”



• First, make your selections (Description contains “Level”)

• Then click on Search and replace in the datagrid menu



• The search and replace window is then displayed :

• Select in the list the column (= field) where the replacement will be make :



• Then select the value to search in the “find” list.

• Then select the replacement value in the “Replace by” list



• Verify carefully the values you just entered :

• And start the process by [Ok] => the values are replaced :



• Save the modifications by :

• And reset the filters to verify the modifications :

x. Export data from datagrids
