To access the content for the first time select the ‘Create new account’ option Enter the required details and submit You will receive an activation email including a link. Click this link to confirm your registration. Once you have confirmed your registration, you will be able to view example lessons from Years 7, 8

and 9.

If you’d like to upload our content into your own VLE, this is the option for you. To download our demo lesson packs:

Select the ‘Download lesson packs to try in your VLE’ button Then select an appropriate Year group from the following screen:

Once you reach the menu screen for your chosen year group:

1. Navigate through the menu, using the active links to access the free lesson packs:

Year 7, Unit 7.6, Lesson 2 (Teacher and Student content) Year 8, Unit 8.4, Lesson 1 (Teacher and Student content) Year 9, Unit 9.1, Lesson 1 (Teacher and Student content)

2. When you reach the page listing the lesson packs, click on the active links to access the pack(s) you

wish to try. You need to download the student content and teacher content packs for each lesson.

3. When you select the ZIP file you wish to download, opt to save this file to a suitable location on your

computer or network.

Once you’ve uploaded your free lesson packs into your VLE – there are lots of features to explore! For each lesson, the student content is presented in a HTML page. As students work through the content there are hyperlinks out to the following features:

The animated openers include short animations, PowerPoint slide shows and activities that set the scene for the student tutorial. These offer a great way to engage and motivate all students from the word go!

Each Flash Skills Demo offers a step-by-step walk-through of an ICT activity with accompanying audio instructions. Students will then carry out these activities themselves to progress through the tutorial.

Throughout the student content, there are links to the supporting student worksheets and other additional resources. These provide everything that the students need to complete the tutorial.

Interactive games

Digital glossary Where ICT terminology is used within the student content, key words are hyperlinked to a glossary definition which includes audio support.

The student content also includes a selection of interactive games and activities that are designed to consolidate learning as students progress through the tutorials.

The teacher content includes everything you need to deliver a particular lesson. When in your VLE, the teacher content appears in a series of folders. This content includes:

• A clear, detailed lesson plan – with lots of support for non-specialists • Interactives* • Worksheets and resources folders • Openers* • Skills Demos* • Answers to interactives† • Glossary (pdf)†

* As relevant. † If you choose to upload content by unit, these files appear once (in the Unit zip folder) rather than in every lesson, for ease of use. Image library This is a bank of images for use with each unit of work. If you upload content by lesson, the relevant Image Library is included in the ZIP file for ease of use. Planning and mapping This includes three mapping documents for APP, Functional Skills and Learning Objectives.

Teacher content key features

The teacher content is organised as a list of files that support each individual lesson. The content includes copies of all the student materials (openers, interactive games and Flash Skills Demos) – so you can access them quickly in one location. The teacher content also includes a Lesson Plan, answers to the interactive games and documents to support planning and mapping.

At the end of each unit student and teacher content is provided for an assessment task. These are open-ended activities and therefore student progress in not automatically tracked. The activities are designed to combine and consolidate the skills covered in the preceding unit. Resources such as annotated model answers, assessment sheets and a lesson plan are provided in the Teacher content to support each unit assessment. The complete VLE Packs provide everything you need to deliver the requirements of the ICT Framework across Key Stage 3 using engaging, student-friendly content. Each VLE Pack includes an inspiring collection of topic-based units, which teach ICT through a series of skills-based student tutorials. Every unit is followed by an end-of-unit assessment activity.
