What is the UDS Mapper?

An online mapping tool developed by the AAFP's Robert Graham Center, as part of the HealthLandscape mapping platform

Provides access to maps, data, and analyses developed for the Bureau of Primary Health Care by John Snow, Inc. (JSI) using UDS and other relevant data to visualize service area information for the Section 330-funded health center program

Compares Section 330-funded health center data to community/population data and shows spatial relationships between the program, community attributes and other resources

Who Can Use the UDS Mapper?

The UDS Mapper is open to everyone, not just Section 330 grantees

To begin using the UDS Mapper all you have to do is register for a username and password at www.udsmapper.org.

More than one person from an organization CAN have a login for the UDS Mapper

Selecting ZCTAs for Analysis Click on map- click once on a ZCTA to

select/ unselect a ZCTA ZCTAs can only be selected at a scale of

1:1,155,581 or less

Use Define Service Area tool Enter ZCTA or ZIP Code and add

2009 American Medical Association (AMA) Masterfile• Physician data are aggregated into counties• Goal is to capture EVERY American-trained

physician in the U.S.

Accuracy and limitations• Very little duplication of records (less than 0.01%)• Compared with other sources of information, the

AMA Masterfile lags in recording changes in workforce

• Surveys allow physicians to self-report their primary specialty and any secondary specialties they practice
