Your Digital Models are available to view at the chairside through a range of software options. 3Shape OrthoViewer allow quick access with introduction level 3D functionality. OrthoAnalyzerTM Standard offers powerful measurement and diagnostic tools such as arch length measurement, space analysis, Bolton analysis and cross sectional views to help assess overbite, overjet and crossbite. OrthoAnalyzerTM Professional provides increased functionality including segmentation, virtual diagnostic setups, case superimposition and occlusion manipulation.
For too long, the Digital Study Model market has been dominated by services providers which offer a product that is locked into a proprietary format meaning that you, the specialist orthodontist do not have full ownership nor control of your Orthodontic Model Records. Due to the centralised nature of these providers, users are also required to ship a separate set of impressions at expense, risk and inconvenience to a location often quite some distance away. WHO IS RESERVE ORTHO LAB?We are a full service orthodontic laboratory specializing in appliances and study models. We have over 50 combined years of technical experience. Reserve Ortho Lab has been proven to have unbeatable service, very consistent, superior quality and partners with our Doctor’s and their practices in providing excellent care for their patients.
Who is ESM?ESM is a company which supplies 3Shape 3D scanners and software to Laboratories, practitioners and Universities around the world.
Who is 3Shape?3Shape is a Danish company which have a long history in the 3D digital scanning applications for hearing aids, dental restoration and now orthodontic markets.
Who else is using this system?A few doctors, some high quality labs and institutions such as: Newcastle University, University of Michigan, St. Louis, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Temple and the US Air force and Navy.
How accurate is the system?0.02mm (20mircons)
If I only send an impression or rough base model, then can a base be added?Yes, the software allows the lab to add a ‘Virtual Base’
How is the occlusion determined?The models are scanned individually and then together in occlusion, the software will bring the arches into occlusion automatically. If we are scanning your impressions, then the bite registration is scanned and the software will use this also to determine the occlusion by superimposing the common detail of the upper and lower impression with the upper and lower detail of the bite.
Does the model color matter?Not usually. The only limitations are when extremely polished models are scanned or when very dark models are scanned.
Can I use Alginate or Silicon impressions?There is no restrictions on the type of material scanned.
How does the system handle crowded cases?It works very well on all cases where the detail is visible by the camera/laser.
Are ESM/ROL’s Digital Study Models accepted for medico-legal purposes? Yes. From a Medicolegal perspective, Dental Protection (DPS) have indicated that our Digital Study Models are legally acceptable as a digital alternative to traditional plaster study models. They also indicated that it is still the responsibility of the practitioner to ensure that an appropriate data protection procedure is in place in the practice to ensure the security of the data.
What Practice Management Software does the system integrate wit?Orthotrac / Dolphin Imaging / DoIT
What spec of PC is required in order to view these models?Typically, any PC purchased in the past couple of years can run the software. A PC with Intel Dual Core Processor, 2GHz, 2GB Ram and a 256MB nVidia graphics care is adequate.
Can I view these models on my Apple Mac?The software is a windows based program and it does not run on the Mac Operation System. It will run reasonably well with the Virtual PC applications such as “Parallels.”
What functionality does the Analysis software have?ROL provides a FREE of charge “Viewing” Basic version, “OrthoViewer” that enables the practitioner to access cases via ROL’s Web Site. This includes models open/closing and rescaling to a 1:1 ratio for easy viewing.

For this reason, the annual fee listed above will cover the expense of developing and continuously upgrading the analysis software to ensure compliance with IT hardware and OS developments and enhanced functionality, along with the comfort and reassurance of having the support team at ESM/ROL available whenever you need them.
