KEY PROBLEM

High obesity rates within Northern Health Obesity is recognised as a pervasive issue

amongst the family of the pregnant woman Obesity in the migrant population Services aimed only at antenatal and

intrapartum management Attention to this issue prenatally and

postnatally to enable women to sustain lifestyle change for themselves and their family

AIM OF THIS INNOVATION

Educating women on the medical impact of obesity in pregnancy on herself and the fetus

Education on the long term effects of obesity Provision of multidisciplinary team to help

women and families address the problem of obesity

Identify women prenatally through LMO’s Address the obesity problem prior to, during

and after pregnancy to enable sustainable change
