How to set up a team page1. Elect a JustGiving Delegate

The first step to creating a JustGiving team page for your Fundraising Group is to elect a member of the group as the JustGiving Delegate. If you haven’t already done it, you need to set up an email account for the Fundraising Group as a whole (eg [email protected]). If you need information about setting up a group email address please refer to the Telling Others chapter of your Fundraising Group Handbook or online area, or ask your Community Fundraiser for advice.

The JustGiving Delegate’s responsibilities are to:

• Createandmanagethegroup’sJustGivingaccount

• CreatetheJustGivingteampageforthegroup

• Createafundraisingpageforeacheventoractivityorganisedbythegroup

• Monitorthegroup’steammembers’pages(theindividualpageslinkedtothegroup’steampage)

If you decide to use JustGiving and elect a delegate, please ensure you tell your Community Fundraiser so they know who to contact with any queries about the group’s JustGiving pages.

2. Name your JustGiving account and team page

To ensure that Marie Curie can identify your JustGiving account and your team page as belonging to your Fundraising Group and allocate all the money you raise correctly, it is important that you use a standard naming format in three key areas of JustGiving. This naming format is based on the official name of your group as recorded on our database. If you are not sure what this is, please ask your Community Fundraiser.

This is the format to use:

Fundraising Group JustGiving account: [Area] Fundraising Group (the official name of your group)

• egWimbledonFundraisingGroup

Fundraising Group team page: [Area] Fundraising Group for Marie Curie

• egWimbledonFundraisingGroupforMarieCurie

Team page web address: www.justgiving.com/teams/MCCCareafundraisinggroup

• egwww.justgiving.com/teams/MCCCwimbledonfundraisinggroup

You only need to do this once as described below.

3. Create a JustGiving account

The JustGiving Delegate sets up the Fundraising Group’s JustGiving account using the group’s email address and password. It is important that the group email account is used rather than a personal account, so that another member can take over the running of the account if the delegate changes role or leaves the group.

1. To create a JustGiving account, visit www.justgiving.com and select Your account in the top right hand corner.

2. Enter the Fundraising Group email address, select No – I’m new and press submit.

3. Select Title as other, enter First name as [Area] and Last name as Fundraising Group eg First name: Wimbledon,Last name: Fundraising Group.

4. Use your own address to set up the page. Please remember to keep this address updated if you move or anothermember takes over as delegate.

5. Once confirmed this will open the Your account homepage.

Now that you have a JustGiving account, supporters can search by your Fundraising Group name, and all fundraising pages you create will be displayed.

4. Create a JustGiving team page

When you set up the group’s team page you will also need to create your first JustGiving fundraising page. You will have the option to create a fundraising page for general donations to the group or for something more specific such as an upcoming event the group is organising. You can always add more fundraising pages so if you want a page for general donations now, a more specific page for a Fundraising Group event can be created later.

In time, the group will have a number of fundraising pages, and the team page will act as a record of all the fundraising pages which have been set up and linked to the group.

1. To create your JustGiving team page log into your Fundraising Group JustGiving account.

2. On the At a glance tab select Create a new fundraising team in the bottom right corner.

3. The screen below will appear. Enter details into the boxes as follows:

9. On the next screen select Marie Curie (if this is not on the top of the page search in the search bar).

10. Four options will then be displayed for different types of JustGiving pages which can be set up.

11. You can either create a general donation page for your Fundraising Group or you can create a specific eventfundraising page for an upcoming event being organised by your group.

• SelectCreate your page.

• Ontheedit page screen change the page title to Donations to [Area] Fundraising Group for Marie Curie and extend the page for at least a year.

5. The web address must bein the following format: MCCC[area]fundraisinggroup6. Select open. This will allow anyone

who wants to support your group to link their JustGiving page to theteam page.

7. Set a target for your Fundraising Group. This target can be increased as your groupreaches each target set.

8. To create the Fundraising Groupteam page an initial fundraisingpage will need to be created. SelectMake a new fundraising page.

Create a fundraising page for a Fundraising Group event You may decide to create a page for a particular event being organised by your group as your first fundraising page. If so, set up an event fundraising page.

• AfteryouhaveselectedMarieCurie, eitherselecttheoptionPersonal Occasion or Personal Challenge depending on the event the group is organising (for example, a birthday party would be a personal occasion whereas if the group pledges not to eat chocolate for a month, this may be a personal challenge).

• OntheFinalise your selection page enter information about your event using the drop down menu in theTell us about your event section.

• Changethetitletothenameofyoureventinthetextbox.

• SelectCreate your page.

• Ontheedit page screen, change the page title to the name of your event eg Halloween Quiz, or BloomingGreat Tea Party

Once you have created your fundraising page, you can edit it to give the page a more personal feel. Change the picture to one of your group and add text to explain more about your fundraising (use the key messages from the Fundraising Group Handbook or online area).

JustGiving team pageNow that you have set up your first fundraising page your team page will be created and its title will be [Area] Fundraising Group for Marie Curie. Your fundraising page will be listed within the Team members box. You can now let other members of the group know the team page web address so that they can promote it or, if they are taking part in an event, create an individual page to link to the group’s team page.

The image below is an example of a Fundraising Group team page. You can edit the appearance of the page by logging into the Fundraising Group JustGiving account and selecting Your Pages. Select the Fundraising Group team page and select edit page.

Receiving donationsSupporters cannot make donations to the main Fundraising Group team page. They donate through one of the fundraising pages shown under Team Members. An example of a general donation page and an event fundraising page are shown below.

It is important to note the charity does not thank individual donations to your pages so it is your group’s responsibility to thank your online donors.

Creating additional pages for your Fundraising GroupOnce you have created your team page, you can create new fundraising pages at any time. To do this log into the Fundraising Group JustGiving account and view the group’s team page. Select Join the Team and you will then be able to select Make new fundraising page as you did when the team page was first set up. You can then create a new fundraising page for general donations or for a new event you are organising.

Fundraising Group members’ and supporters’ fundraising pagesIf members of the Fundraising Group or the group’s supporters have set up a JustGiving page for their own fundraising this can be linked to the Fundraising Group team page. This will mean online donations will go towards the individual fundraising target. This is crucial when taking part in a Marie Curie sponsored event, and will also be linked to the Fundraising Group target. Members will need to link their page to the group’s team page for the income raised to count towards the group’s target and for the charity to allocate the income to your group correctly.

In order to link their page to the group’s team page they will need to open the team page and select Join the Team. If the member of the group has already created their JustGiving page, they can choose to link this page by selecting the group, or they can choose to create a new page. This way, the money raised will be linked to the Fundraising Group as well as going towards the individual’s fundraising target.

Important – Once the event has finished and the fundraising page is no longer open for donations, do not delete the page or remove it from the group’s team page. If the page is deleted, any money raised on it will not be included in the running total for the group on the team page.

Removing a page from your Fundraising Group It is possible that a page may be linked to the Fundraising Group team page that you do not wish to be associated with. It may be that the page has been set up in error, you don’t want the event associated with the group (for example, if it is not raising funds for Marie Curie or a JustGiving page has been accidentally linked and the page creator requests you remove it from the Fundraising Group team page.

To remove the page:

1. Log into your Fundraising Group JustGiving account.

2. Select the Your Pages tab.

3. Click on the red remove button by the fundraising page to be removed.

4. The page will be removed from the Fundraising Group team page (it will remain active on JustGiving).
