OBJETIVEOur objective is to present how the firm GSC, Asociados, S. C., is using Blender in the development of a comprehensive system that supports the teaching and learning of mathematics at secondary level in Mexico and Latin America called OPEN MATHEMATICA.

WHAT IS OPEN MATHEMATICA?

OPEN MATHEMATICA, is an innovative project which aims general, designing cutting-edge educational resources for teaching and learning of mathematics at the secondary level, who meet the math programs of the 2006 comprehensive reform of the Bureau of Public Education in Mexico, by using three dimensional technology, augmented reality and semantic web.

WHY OPEN MATHEMATICA SYSTEM?

With Blender our company will supply a solution in a structured manner the most serious social problem in Mexico, education at all levels.

• Integrating technologies of 3D animation software with the use of Blender, as a pedagogical tool in teaching and learning of mathematics at the secondary level.

• Integrating augmented reality technology in activities of mathematics at the secondary level using Blender in the animation process.

• Integrate semantic web technology in the development of interactive educational web pages.

OBJETIVES OF OPEN MATHEMATICA SYSTEM

PEDAGOGICAL AND TECNOLOGICAL MODEL

• 45 shorts films in three dimensions that have knowledge and skills of secundary school curricula.

• 3 digital textbooks that cover 100% of the SEP program.

• 45 math topics with augmented reality.

• System management, monitoring and evaluation to support teachers in implementing the system, with more than 1,500 items and challenges.

• Interactive web portal containing all project resources.

OPEN MATHEMATICA WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING COMPONENTS

Solve problems involving the posing and solving of linear equations of the form x + a = b, ax = b, ax + b = c, using the properties of equality, with a, b and c integers or decimals.

IMPACTS AND PROFITS OF OPEN MATHEMATICA SYSTEM

• OPEN MATHEMATICA will impact in 160,000 students in the state of Hidalgo in Mexico and could have an impact on 6 million students around the country.

• Improve significantly and medium term, the learning of mathematics in Mexico and Latin America, which will be reflected in the ENLACE and PISA test results in the area of mathematics.

• It is through a significant improvement of the teaching and learning of mathematics, students in Mexico and Latin America will have access to better income levels via rapid insertion in the so-called knowledge and innovation economy, as currently happens in OECD countries.

• Formation of technological experts in Mexico, using the latest information technologies to develop educational resources. We are the first company in Mexico to use Blender to produce high quality and effectiveness educational contents.

TESTING AND MARKETING OF OPEN MATHEMATICA SYSTEM

• Testing of OPEN MATHEMATICA system will be conducted in 2010-2011 school year in Mexico. From the results of this testing, will be made the adjustments necessary to properly implement the system in a large number of public and private schools.

• With our business partner “Grupo Educare”, a company specializing in developing and selling educational materials, marketing OPEN MATHEMATICA in more than 3,000 private schools in Mexico and Latin America.
