QUESTION:Which entries are required STEP 7-Micro/WIN V3.1 to be able to use an INSYS Pocket 56k modem?

ANSWER:

The INSYS Pocket 56k modem is a standard modem that also supports 11-bit protocols. Thefollowing communication settings are required for an 11-bit connection:

Important:When using the PC/PPI cable (MLFB 6ES7 901-3BF00-0XA0), the "DTE" setting cannot be enabled.This is why it is necessary to have an additional zero modem adapter between the remote modemand the PC/PPI cable.

Open the communications window in STEP 7-Micro/WIN V3.1 and select the Properties of the PC/PPIcable. The further procedure is described in the manual "S7-200 Automation System, CPU22x" in thesection 7.4 "Communicating with Modem" (see Entry ID: 1109582).

If you want to set up a connection between your PC and an S7-200 controller, then please proceed as

follows:

1. Connect the local modem to the PC.2. Connect the remote modem to the SIMATIC S7-200 controller via the PC/PPI cable.

Switch 4 OFF (11 bits)

Switch 5 ON (DTE)

4. Click "Program/Test" to transfer the initialization string to the modem. After a few seconds themessage "Successful" is displayed in the "Status" area.

6. Click "Program/Test" to transfer the initialization string to the modem. After a few seconds themessage "Successful" is displayed in the "Status" area.

Description of the AT command:

Note:The settings are retained on the modem even after a power failure. The firmware of the tested INSYSPocket 56k modem had the following version: V2.100-V90_2M_DLS. If a different firmware is loadedin the modem and a connection is not set up, then please get in touch with the manufacturer of themodem:
