Slide 2 Slide 3 Using 21 st Century Skills during our Solo/Ensemble Unit -by Dave Kies Slide 4 -solution fluency Students determine: are the parts too hard for any of us? who has the best upper range? who has the best lower range? what piece do we enjoy playing the most? how is our progress during rehearsals? Slide 5 -information fluency Students search for recordings of their piece using: Slide 6 -collaboration fluency ritard accelerando crescendo -groups ask each other about musical terms, notes, markings, etc. -groups will listen to and critique each other to help determine areas needing improvement Slide 7 often times students will use analogies to explain the feeling of a particular part of a piece of music I think this part sounds like a big heavy elephant walking. -creativity fluency Slide 8 -groups will record one of their practices with an mp3 recorder -they listen to and evaluate the recording to determine what needs more practice -media fluency Slide 9 -students are not assigned a leadership role -these leadership roles happen automatically as invariably a student steps up to get their group motivated to practice -digital citizen Slide 10 21 st century teaching requires 21 st century skills. Slide 11 21 st century skills require the use of technology. Slide 12 Technology is becoming Slide 13 more intuitive increasingly accessible less expensive Slide 14 Technology is Slide 15 moving faster Slide 16 and faster.. Slide 17 and faster..
