JANE HUTCHISON - MariaA newcomer to California, Jane comes to us from Boston where she spent three

years as an acting mojor at Boston University's School 01 Fine Arts. Although shemakes her debut with West Valley Light Opera, she is not new to the musical stagelor her credits include leads in "The Music Man", "Bye-Bye Birdie", "Carousel","Li'l Abner" and many more. She has been acting for seven years, studying voicelor 5 years and is presently linishing up her requirements lor her BA Degree atSan Jose State University and plans to begin work on her Master's Degree in thevery near future.

JOE KIRK - Captain von TrappIf this face and voice seem familiar to you, it is probably because you have seen Joe

in TV commercials for advertisers like Datsun, Bank of Hawaii, and Kellogg' 5 Puffa-

PuHa Rice. You may have also. seen him in San Jose Civic Light Opera productions01 "South Pacilic", "Little Mary Sunshine", and "Music Man". Joe was a speech anddrama major at Brigham Young University "" well as at San Jose State and appearedin several productions at BYU. He completed a movie this year lor the Americanlibrary Association and participated in the Mormon Church's lamaus Oakland TemplePageant this summer. This may be his lirst production with us but we certainly hopenot his last. And would you guess that Joe is a dentist?

MARIE-THERESE TAYLOR - Mother AbbessMarie-Therese also makes her debut with our group. A native of Belgium, she gradu-ated from the Royal Conservatory of Liege and came to America when she was 19.She has worked professionally as a featured artist at the International Room, HostInternational, San Francisco, Villa Roma and other restaurants in the Bay Area. Her

husband, AI, is faad service diredor at Valley Memorial Hospital ih Salinas and theyhave three children. Marie-Therese is currently studying Italian and she enjoys cooking,gardening, yoga, and dog shows. Her background makes her perfed for the MotherAbbess.

SUE PARKS - LieslThis pradudion marks Sue's first performance on our stoge, but she is used to thefootlights for she has been an entertainer at Marriott's Great America for the pasttwo seasons. She has studied voice and dancing and has been the recipient of manyawards and honors all through her high school years. She played Peter in FoothillCollege's Summer produdion of'Peter Pan" in 1975 and has a long list of other localcredits. She is currently a part-time student at West Valley College studying Germanwhile working as a receptionist in her Dodor-father's oHice. She just recently returnedfrom Southern California where she auditioned lor a role in the road show 01 "Annie"along with several other young adults from this area. Best of luck. Sue.

LEE CARL - RolfLee may be a stranger to our audiences, but his credits are extensive and interesting.

He comes to us Irom Seattle where he taught ballroom dancing for 1 1/2 years andwas the lead dancer in Seventeen Magazine's "Road Show '76". Upon moving to SanJose, he joined the Benny Smith Academy of Dance to study jazz, tap, ballet, andacrobatics. He flew to Ohio where he appeared as a guest performer in the MissOhio Pageant and was featured in the Miss California Pageant as well. In June, heappeared in "New Touch 01 Vegas" at Circle Star Theater with the Benny SmithDancers and later worked with the Johnny Vaughn Orchestra at the St. Francis Hotel.Rolf is his lirst ading and singing role and we leel it is only just the beginning for Lee.

GAIL CHAPMAN - ElsaGail is also a newcomer to our stage, but not to the area. She was a music major

at San Jose State studying voice and has been a soloist with State's Acappella Choirand Choral Ensemble. She appeared in San Jose Civic Light Opera pradudions of"Oklahoma" and "No, No Nanette". Gail is married, has two children and is pre-sently employed at Good Samaritan Hospital in the Psychiatric Unit.

STEVE COMPLETO - Max DetweilerYou will remember seeing Steve in our last pradudion of "VERY GOOD EDDIE". Upto that time, he had been working with the Gilbert & Sullivan Society in San Jose forfour years and had played major and supporting roles in almost every produdion,including "Gondoliers", "Princess Ida", "Iolanthe", "Trial by Jury", and "Pirates ofPenzance". He has attended Santa Clara University, is taking classes at DeAnza incomputer programming and also took an oding class with ACT's continuing educationevening program. Steve is presently employed at NCC Food Corporation and isloolc:ing forward to some extra time when he can learn more tap dancing.

THE AUXILIARYThe West Valley Light Opera Association Auxiliary's greatest challenge probably lies inhosting the Champagne Gala for Member's Night (Usually the opening performance of eachproduction). Other activities include operation of the refreshment concession in the theatrelobby, helping backstage in many areas, ushering, painting sets, sewing, and other rewardingactivities.
