What seem an eternity ago the vision to build a network of Safety Professionals working the field of Building Estates / Facilities Management for knowledge exchange.

Background to the group - how we got here today.

1st meeting in Liverpool / set up of the committee / link into USHA

The overarching aim of the group is to facilitate the improvements of safety management in Estates / Facilities Management activities across the Higher Education sector by:

Promoting discussion, debate and communication amongst its members to exchange knowledge; Sharing of best practice across the higher educational sector; andLiaison to building networks and partnerships with professional and regulatory bodies that impact on our activities, such as HSE, Fire & Rescue Service, Police, Home Office, Counter Terrorism Units. 3

The aim of the group is promote sensible and effective risk management for Estate / Facilities Management activities across the Higher Education Sector such as:

So in summary were a new group that has recently established and joined forces with USHA

So far we have a on-line discussion forum HASNET ESTATES set up via USHA

We are encouraging new members - could you spread the word and if you would like to be part of the group contact either myself or Lynda Couch Smith

Moving forward we are planning to hold two meetings a year explain details

Development and maintenance of Estates Website via the USHA website for knowledge exchange portal
