1 Introduction

The CAP/REx 500 includes a full function block library for the terminal REx 500 series of protection and control terminals. Example configurations are also included:

CAP/REx 500 files are shipped in a compressed format.

Follow these steps to decompress and copy all files into a specific directory:

1 Start Windows (Windows 3.11, Windows 95 or Windows NT).

2 Insert the disk into the diskette drive.

3 Open the Program Manager or choose the <Start> button on the task bar

4 Select the ‘Run’ command from the File menu.

5 Type: a:\install in the command line box if the disk is in drive A, or Type: b:\install if it is in drive B.

6 Select <OK>, or press Enter, and a dialogue box appears on the screen.

From this point you will be helped through the process of the installation by a dia-logue box structure. Just answer the questions and make your choice.

You can either choose to continue or to abort the installation. If the installation is aborted the following dialogue box appears.

If you select <Exit Installation> at any step of the installation process when the button “Exit Installation” is pressed. This means that nothing will be really installed on to your computer. This will not be done until the last confirmation when <Install> is selected, see Fig. 6

When <Ok> is selected in the dialogue box presented in Fig. 2 the following dialogue box appears on the screen:

By default, both a CAP/REx500A module and example configurations are selected. If you do not want to install example configurations, click on the check box in the dia-logue in front of the “Install example configurations for CAP/REx 500A”.

1 Select the <Next> button.

If CAP 531*1.3 is not installed, the following warning dialogue appears:

After that the installation process is aborted. You need to install CAP 531 tool version 1.3 and make new try of REx 500 module installation.

In order to accomplish the installation select <Next>. If a version of CAP/REx500A module has been installed on the computer, a message “CAP/REx500A is already installed” is presented instead of the message in Fig. 5.

It is still possible to go back through the dialogue structure, by pressing the button “<<Back”.

By pressing the button <Install> the decompression of the files on to the hard drive of your computer begins at this point. The progress will be showed in the following dia-logue:

The decompressed files will be placed in the directory structure where CAP 531 Tool is installed, e.g. C:/CAP531/Modules/REx500A.

Successful installation will be announced by the following dialogue.

The following dialogue will appear if you chose to install the example configurations in fig. 3.

1.3 After installation

• Start the CAP 531 tool and create a new project.

• Insert a new terminal in the project. You select terminal type “REX500A” for all REx5xx terminals Ver 2.0. The CAP/REx module is a superset of all terminals described in Introduction.

• When you want to work with one of the example configurations, run ‘Insert Tem-plate’ from the Edit menu.

• When you want to work with a certain terminal type, we recommend you to run ‘Terminal Options’ in the Edit menu, and select the terminal type from the \mod-ules\REX500A\TermOpt directory. When You do this, you will get the complete set of functions that can be included in the selected terminal type in your list of functions.

SOFTWARE LICENSE

• This ABB Network Partner AB License Agreement (”License”) grants you the nonexclusive right to use onecopy of the enclosed software program (”SOFTWARE”) on a single computer (i.e., with a single CPU) at asingle location at any time. If you have multiple Licenses for the SOFTWARE you may have as many copiesof the SOFTWARE in use as you have Licenses.

• The software is owned by ABB Network Partner AB or its suppliers and is protected by Swedish copyrightlaws, international treaty provisions, and all other applicable national laws. Therefore you must treat theSOFTWARE as any other copyrighted material (e.g., a book or musical recording) except that if the softwareis not copy protected you may either (a) make a copy of the SOFTWARE solely for backup or archivalpurposes, or (b) transfer the SOFTWARE to a single hard disk provided you keep the original solely forbackup or archival purposes. You may not copy the Documentation accompanying the SOFTWARE.

• The License is effective until terminated. This License will terminate automatically without notice fromABB Network Partner AB if you fail to comply with any provision of this License. Upon termination youshall return the diskettes containing the SOFTWARE and all Documentation to ABB Network Partner AB anddestroy any copies of the SOFTWARE or any portions of it which has not been returned to ABB NetworkPartner AB, including copies resident in computer memory.

• You may not rent, lease, lend, sell or give away the SOFTWARE, but you may transfer your rights underthis ABB Network Partner AB License Agreement on a permanent basis provided you transfer all copies ofthe SOF TWARE and all written materials, and the recipient agrees to the terms of this Agreement. Youmay not modify, adapt, translate, reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or create derivative works basedon the SOFTWARE. You may not modify, adapt, translate or create derivative works based on the writtenmaterials.

LIMITED WARRANTY

• ABB Network Partner AB’s entire liability and your exclusive remedy shall be, at ABB Network PartnerAB’s option, either (a) return of the price paid or (b) repair or replacement of the SOFTWARE that does notmeet ABB Network Partner AB’s Limited Warranty and which is returned to ABB Network Partner AB witha copy of your receipt. This Limited Warranty is void if failure of the SOFTWARE has resulted fromaccident, abuse, or misapplication. Any replacement SOFTWARE will be warranted for the remainder of theoriginal warranty period or 30 days, whichever is longer.

• ABB Network Partner AB disclaims all other warranties, either express or implied, including but not limitedto implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, with respect to the SOFTWARE,accompanying Product Manual(s) and written materials. This warranty gives you specific legal rights.

• Neither ABB Network Partner AB nor anyone else who has been involved in the creation, production ordelivery of this product shall be liable for any direct, indirect, consequential or incidental damages (includingdamages for loss of business profits, business interruption, loss of business information, and the like) arisingout of the use or inability to use such product even if ABB Network Partner AB has been advised of thepossibility of such damages. In any case, ABB Network Partner AB's entire liability under any provision ofthis agreement shall be limited to the amount actually paid by you for the software.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

By opening the diskette package you acknowledge that you have read this agreement, understand it, and agreeto be bound by its terms and conditions. You also agree that it is the complete and exclusive statement of theagreement between the parties and supersedes all proposals or prior agreement, oral or written, and any othercommunications between the parties relating to the subject matter of the licence or limited warranty.

This Agreement is governed in all aspects by Swedish law. If any provisions of this Agreement are invalid orunenforceable, all others will remain in effect.

By openingthe diskette package You indicate your acceptance of the terms and conditions of this agreement. If You do not agree to theterms of this agreement, promptly return the unopened diskette package and other items which are part of the product for a fullrefund. Your product is a single user version unless you have a written agreement with ABB Network Partner AB.

License Agreement

• ABB Network Partner AB warrants that the software will perform substantially in accordance with the accompanying Product Manual(s) for a period of 1 year from the date of delivery from ABB Network Partner AB, Västerås. ABB Network Partner AB does not warrant that the SOFTWARE is free from coding errors.
