1 Intended use of this manual
CAP 535 is a collection of programming, configuration and setting tools and librariesfor a range of protection and control terminals.
This manual can be used to get an overview of CAP 535 and its contents and informa-tion on PC requirements and supported terminal product families. It also provides nec-essary information to install the tool package CAP 535.
2 Intended audience
This manual can be used by installers, commissioners and system engineers.
2.1 Responsibilities
In order to fully understand the contents of this manual, you should have basic engi-neering knowledge and specific knowledge in system automation, depending on yourpurpose.
3 What is in this manual?
This manual is organized into chapters according to the intended audience so that eachchapter corresponds to user’s needs.
Chapter 1 gives an introduction to the manual.
Chapter 2 gives an overview of CAP 535 and its contents.
Chapter 3 specifies the requirements for your PC and operative system. It also showswhich product families and releases are supported by this tool package.
Chapter 4 describes how to install the CAP 535 tool package.

5 Tool package CAP 535
The tool package CAP 535 is a collection of programming, configuration and setting tools and libraries for a range of protection and control terminals.
The package also contains the User’s Manuals in pdf-format for the tools, as well as Acrobat Reader to view the manuals.
Internet Explorer 4 is also provided. It is needed for the help system in the PST.
When you install CAP 535*1.1 software you get the following tools and libraries:

This chapter describes how to install the different parts in the CAP 535 tool package.
It describes how to install the software, Acrobat Reader and Internet Explorer.
�Note!When installing in Windows NT, you need to log in as administrator.
8 Installing the CAP 535 software
This section describes how to install the CAP 535 software.
1 Insert the CAP 535 installation CD in the CD-ROM drive of your personal com-puter.
2 Select the Control Panel in the Start menu.
3 Double-click Add/Remove Programs, and then Click the Install/Uninstall tab.
4 Click the Install button and follow the instructions. Browse to the Programfolder on the CD-ROM drive and install_CAP 535.exe.
5 Click the Finish button to run the installation program.
The following dialog appears:

6 Read the message and click OK if you want to continue with the installation.
The following dialog appears:

7 Select the check boxes for all terminal libraries you want to install.
8 If you want to change the destination for the CAP 531 installation, click theChange button to the right of the CAP 531 destination box.

9 Select the drive and the folder where the CAP 531 software shall be installed,and then click OK.
10 If you want to change the destination for the PST installation, click theChange button to the right of the PST destination box.
The dialog in figure 3 appears.
11 Select the drive and the folder where the PST software shall be installed, andthen click OK.
12 Click Next.
The following dialog appears:

13 Check the information and choose one of the following two steps:
• To reenter any information, click Back.
• To start the installation, click Install.
The CAP 535 software package is now installed in your computer, showing you ainstallation progress bar.
14 When the installation is complete, click OK to restart your computer.
After restarting your computer, you can begin using the tools and the terminallibraries in the CAP 535 software package.

The installation sets up the following program entries in the start menu underPrograms\CAP 531:

The help function in the Parameter Setting Tool uses Internet Explorer. If you donot have Internet Explorer on your computer, you have to install it. Please see sec-tion “Installing Internet Explorer”.

This section describes how to install the documentation for CAP 535.
1 Insert the CAP 535 installation CD in the CD-ROM drive of your personal com-puter.
2 Using the Windows Explorer, select the Documentation folder on the CD-ROM drive and double-click install_CAP 535doc.exe.
The following dialog appears:

4 Select the drive and the folder where the CAP 535 documentation shall beinstalled, and then click Next.

5 Check the information and do one of the following.

The documents are in pdf-format, you need Acrobat Reader to view them. If you donot have Acrobat Reader on your computer, you have to install it. Please see thesection “Installing Acrobat Reader”.

10 Installing Acrobat Reader
This section describes how to install Acrobat Reader. Acrobat Reader is used to viewthe documentation for the CAP 535.
1 Insert the CAP 535 installation CD in the CD-ROM drive of your personal com-puter.
2 Using the Windows Explorer, select the Acrobat Reader folder on the CD-ROM drive and double-click ar32e301.exe.
The following dialog appears:

3 Click Yes if you want to continue.
The installation is prepared and the following dialog appears:

4 Click Next.

5 Read the License Agreement and if you accept it, click Yes.

6 Click Browse.
The following dialog appears:

7 Type or select the folder for the installation, and then click OK.
8 Click Next in the Choose Destination Location dialog.
The Acrobat Reader is now installed into your computer, showing you a installationprogress bar.
Then the following dialog appears:

9 Do one of the following:
• Click to clear the Display Acrobat Reader 3.01 Readme file check box, andthen click Finish.
The Good-bye message appears.
• Click to set the Display Acrobat Reader 3.01 Readme file check box, and thenclick Finish
The Readme file is shown in WordPad.
After you have exited Wordpad, the Good-bye message appears.
10 Click OK.
The installation of Acrobat Reader is now ready. The following program entries areset up in the start menu under Programs\Adobe Acrobat:

This section describes how to install Internet Explorer 4. Internet Explorer is used forthe help function in the Parameter Setting Tool.
1 Insert the CAP 535 installation CD in the CD-ROM drive of your personal com-puter.
2 Using the Windows Explorer, select the Internet Explorer folder on the CD-ROM drive and double-click ie4setup.exe

3 Click Next.

4 Read the License Agreement and if you accept it, click the I accept the agree-ment option button, and then click Next.

5 Select Browser Only Installation.
You can also select Standard or Full Installation, depending on how much function-ality you want to have. See the Description area.

6 Type the installation folder, or click Browse to select it. Then click Next.
The Internet Explorer is now installed into your computer, showing you an installa-tion progress bar.
The following dialog then appears:

7 Click OK to finish the setup.

After the restart, Internet Explorer is ready to use.

This chapter describes how to uninstall the CAP 535 software.
�Note!Only the programs that were installed will be removed. The user data, CAP 531projects and Parameter Setting data, will be kept. Also, all installed configurationlibraries and all installed parameter setting libraries, will be kept.
1 Select the Control Panel in the Start menu.
2 Double-click Add/Remove Programs, and then Click the Install/Uninstall tab
The following dialog appears:

3 Select CAP 535 in the list and then click Add/Remove.
The uninstall for CAP 535 starts and the following dialog appears:

4 Click Automatic, and then click Next.

SOFTWARE LICENSE
• This ABB Automation Products AB License Agreement (”License”) grants you the nonexclusive right to useone copy of the enclosed software program (”SOFTWARE”) on a single computer (i.e., with a single CPU) ata single location at any time. If you have multiple Licenses for the SOFTWARE you may have as many copiesof the SOFTWARE in use as you have Licenses.
• The software is owned by ABB AB or its suppliers and is protected by Swedishcopyright laws, international treaty provisions, and all other applicable national laws. Therefore you must treattheSOFTWARE as any other copyrighted material (e.g., a book or musical recording) except that if thesoftware is not copy protected you may either (a) make a copy of the SOFTWARE solely for backup or archivalpurposes, or (b) transfer the SOFTWARE to a single hard disk provided you keep the original solely forbackup or archival purposes. You may not copy the Documentation accompanying the SOFTWARE.
• The License is effective until terminated. This License will terminate automatically without notice fromABB AB if you fail to comply with any provision of this License. Upon termination youshall return the diskettes containing the SOFTWARE and all Documentation to ABB ABand destroy any copies of the SOFTWARE or any portions of it which has not been returned to ABB
AB, including copies resident in computer memory.
• You may not rent, lease, lend, sell or give away the SOFTWARE, but you may transfer your rights underthis ABB AB License Agreement on a permanent basis provided you transfer all copiesof the SOF TWARE and all written materials, and the recipient agrees to the terms of this Agreement. Youmay not modify, adapt, translate, reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or create derivative works basedon the SOFTWARE. You may not modify, adapt, translate or create derivative works based on the writtenmaterials.
LIMITED WARRANTY
• ABB AB’s entire liability and your exclusive remedy shall be, at ABBAB’s option, either (a) return of the price paid or (b) repair or replacement of the SOFTWARE that
does not meet ABB AB’s Limited Warranty and which is returned to ABBAB with a copy of your receipt. This Limited Warranty is void if failure of the SOFTWARE has
resulted from accident, abuse, or misapplication. Any replacement SOFTWARE will be warranted for theremainder of the original warranty period or 30 days, whichever is longer.
• ABB AB disclaims all other warranties, either express or implied, including but notlimited to implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, with respect to theWARE, accompanying Product Manual(s) and written materials. This warranty gives you specific legal rights.
• Neither ABB AB nor anyone else who has been involved in the creation, production ordelivery of this product shall be liable for any direct, indirect, consequential or incidental damages (includingdamages for loss of business profits, business interruption, loss of business information, and the like) arisingout of the use or inability to use such product even if ABB AB has been advised of thepossibility of such damages. In any case, ABB AB's entire liability under any provisionof this agreement shall be limited to the amount actually paid by you for the software.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
By opening the diskette package you acknowledge that you have read this agreement, understand it, and agreeto be bound by its terms and conditions. You also agree that it is the complete and exclusive statement of theagreement between the parties and supersedes all proposals or prior agreement, oral or written, and any othercommunications between the parties relating to the subject matter of the licence or limited warranty.
This Agreement is governed in all aspects by Swedish law. If any provisions of this Agreement are invalid orunenforceable, all others will remain in effect.

If You do not agree to theterms of this agreement, promptly return the unopened diskette package and other items which are part of the product for a fullrefund. Your product is a single user version unless you have a written agreement with ABB AB.

• ABB Automation Products AB warrants that the software will perform substantially in accordance with theaccompanying Product Manual(s) for a period of 1 year from the date of delivery from ABB Automation ProductsAB, Västerås. ABB Automation Products AB does not warrant that the SOFTWARE is free from coding errors.
