1. DESCRIPTION OF USER MODULE

1. Description of user module

User module File Uploader is not contained in the standard router firmware. Uploading ofthis user module is described in the Configuration manual (see [1,2]).

File Uploader is v2 and v3 router platforms compatible.

This module is designed for synchronizing files between the router and a remote device(FTP server). For this purpose, FTP (File Transfer Protocol) protocol is used. This is a protocolfor file transfer within the computer network. From the moment the user activates the module, the contents of a user-defined directory is periodically checked and files saved in this directoryare automatically moved to the specified FTP server. In case of any problem with moving thefile, synchronization process is performed again. After three unsuccessful attempts, movingis postponed until the next regular term comes (in accordance with the module configuration). The maximum file size is not limited.

For configuration File Uploader user module is available web interface, which is invokedby pressing the module name on the User modules page of the router web interface. The leftpart of the web interface contains the menu with pages for configuration of the module (Con-figuration) and monitoring of a current module state (System Log). Main menu also containsthe Return item, which switches this web interface to the interface of the Conel router.

2. CONFIGURATION

2. Configuration

The actual configuration of the user module is performed using the form which can bedisplayed by clicking on the Configuration item. The first item – Enable File Uploader – isused to activate this user module. This means that this item starts the script which periodicallychecks the contents of a user-defined directory and moves files saved in this directory to thespecified FTP server. Other items have the following meanings:

Item Description

Scan Folder Directory in the router which is synchronized with the remote FTP server

Remote URL URL address of the remote FTP server on which copied files are saved.Address must be entered in this form: ftp://example.com/

Username Username for logging into the defined FTP server

Password Password for logging into the defined FTP server

Table 1: Description of items in configuration form

Then there is the Work only when nobody is connected to internal FTP Server item whichdefines whether it is possible to copy files from user-defined directory when the connection tothe internal FTP server (in the router) is active. This means the moment when the contents ofthe directory can be currently changed.

We recommend to keep the Work only when nobody is connected to internal FTP Serveritem ticked. Transferring files from a defined directory will only occur if there is no establishedconnection with the internal FTP server.

The next item in the configuration form (Remove files older than) allows the module todelete files (in the Scan Folder directory) older than the specified time period. It is possible toselect from a stretch of time in the order of several hours to several years.
