What is an infographic?

• It is to present information and data with the help of the visual tools.

• It is a visual representation of complex information that has the intention of presenting it (refers to complex information) clearly.

What is the purpose of infographic?

• It is to make a set of complex or even boring set of data information to be understandable and also interesting by highlighting which are the points that are important.

Things to consider when designing an infographics

Consideration: [Focus on single topics]

• Consider to have a single topic for infographics.• It will be effective in a way if one tries to give

answers to a single question.• Able to create much clearer visualizations if one is

focused and not being distracted by other things.• Able to avoid confusions to viewers and readers.

Consideration: [Keep it simple.]

• Have to make sure that it is not overly designed that in the end, it makes the information looks complicated, and difficult to understand.

• Avoid confusion caused for the readers and viewers.• It will not be effective if the infographic is being

designed overly complicated, worst case scenario would be causing misinterpretation.

• If the information is too packed and too noisy, it will drive the viewers and readers away.

Consideration: [Data is important.]

• Do not overdo the design.• Have to make sure that the design will be able to

give clear emphasis to the facts.

Consideration: [Be sure that facts are correct.]

• Before designing it, one has to be sure that the facts are right.

• Research well and use the right information.

Consideration: [Let the infographics tell a story.]

• Manage to tell a story with the illustrations and graphics.

• It should be able to say something so that it can convey the information even if the readers and viewers have not read the text.

Consideration: [Good design of the infographic is effective.]

• No matter how simple the infographic is, use the creativity to make the design look more appealing.

• Colours, layout and the use of white space matters a lot.

• Readers and viewers would stare longer to an infographic which has a good design.

Pros and Cons of infographcis.

Pros

• Able to take complicated information and translate them into graphics, using very little amount of words to explain them.

• Infographics are easy to understand. This is because some people do not like wordy text, and also some have short attention spans. Thus, quick and easy is critical

• Infographics are easy to share and also will be able to catch the eye of the readers and viewers.

• It is not necessary to follow just one template. One is able to change the colors, format and also even the style of the infographics.

Cons

• It is time consuming to create infographics. It is not just doing some research and be done with it. One has to design the layout and the graphics as well.

• The text can be difficult to be read if one tries to cram too much information into a small image.

Problems that I am going to tackle on.

• Create a much simpler infographic so that readers and viewers are able to understand what is it trying to convey.

• Use as little number of words as possible so as not to make the entire infographic so busy.

• No cramping of text.

• Research.– Tutorials.– Viewing the good

infographics that most designers had done to gain some inspirations.

back of the data presented so that the readers and viewers are able to walk through a story.

• The colors and the type of fonts used.– The type of color used must first catch the eye of the

readers and viewers before they can be read.– Fonts used must be readable for the readers and

viewers.

• Words.– Infographics design is a mixture of writing and graphic

design. – It must be shown in a short and clearly written manner.
