Now we live like in heaven compared to how it was during and after the war. During KGB times... Certainly, after visiting this museum you start appreciating your life and opportunities way more than before.
Why you should visit it?
Used both by the Nazis and the Soviets for planning their atrocities against Lithuanian citizens, this place certainly resonates with the local people. It also acted as a prison and many political prisoners met their end there. Today the place is a dark reminder of the terrors of totalitarianism.

PALACE OF THE GRAND DUKES OF LITHUANIA
Why locals love it?
The reconstructed Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania, the former political, diplomatic, cultural center of the State, was one of the most famous in Europe in the 15th-17th centuries and was demolished later.
This Palace is excellent located just in the heart of Vilnius, within the confines of Lower Castle. Nowadays the Gothic, Renaissance and Early Baroque halls of this multifunctional Museum are ideally applicable to organize a different size and content various events.

That‘s a great way to get introduced to Lithuanian history.

GEDIMINAS TOWER
Why locals love it?
A prominent structure in Old Town Vilnius is Gediminas Castle, now not much more than a tower, with its flag displaying the coat of arms of Lithuania flying from its roof. This tower is a symbol of Vilnius and one of the only remaining parts of the Upper Castle, originally built of wood by Grand Duke Gediminas of the 14th century, then fortified with brick in the 15th century.

RUMŠIŠKĖS OPEN-AIR MUSEUM
Why locals love it?
The open-air museum in Rumšiškės displays the heritage ofLithuanian rural life in a vast collection of authenticresurrected buildings where the Lithuanian people lived andworked.
The total area of 175 ha (432 acre) contains 140 buildingsfrom the 18th–19th century with the restored original interiorsand surroundings. This museum was established to help topreserve and research the former ways of living.
HOW TO GET THERE:
• From a bus stop "Rumšiškės" on a highway A1/E85 it is 1.8 km to the main entrance of the museum.
• Minibuses from Kaunas train station to "Rumšiškės" are available.
• From a train station "Pravieniškės" it is 6 km to the main entrance of the museum.
