We use construction Used to + verb to talk about:

• habits or repeated actions in the past that no longer happenFor example:

1. I used to smoke 10 year ago but I don’t smoke now.

2. I used to like ice-cream in childhood. Now I don’t like it.

• something that was true in the past but is not rue any more For example:

1. This building used to be a cinema. Now it is a bookshop.

2. I used to be a student. Now I am a teacher.
