on It? What is ActivStudio? ActivStudio is the software that runs your interactive
Promethean whiteboard. You can use the software to create presentations, or to display and interact with documents, such as Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, and PowerPoint shows.
How can I use the skill explained below?
Display a portion of a worksheet from the text book so the class can complete it as a group activity.
What should I know first? You will need to open ActivStudio software on your laptop.

HOW TO BEGIN
1. Open the ActivStudio Software. Click on New Flipchart on the dashboard.
2. From the toolbox, click on the Main Menu and make sure Design Mode is selected.
3. Minimize the flipchart to the bottom taskbar so you can see your desktop. (You can close out the “dashboard” part of the program at any time by clicking on the “X”. Just make sure the “toolbox” is still open.)
4. Open the document on the textbook CD. These documents are most often .pdf documents.
5. After the document is open, click on the camera tool on your ActivStudio toolbar. A drop down menu appears. If you only want one section from the worksheet, for example, a graphic organizer, select Area. A blue outline appears on your page.

6. Adjust the blue outline box over the area that you want to capture as an image. It can be resized by grabbing on the little boxes.
7. Once you select the area, go up to the VERY top left corner of the computer screen. You will see little camera icons there. If you select the first icon, the program will take a picture of the part of the document you enclosed in the blue box, and will send it to the new flipchart page you opened.
8. Maximize the flipchart. You should see whatever part of the document you enclosed on your flipchart page. You can now save this as a flipchart (even if it is only one page) and annotate on it during instruction.
