the pupil/student’s progress. The use of computers has, in some

instances, led to the narrowing of the digital divide eg some rural schools have access to computers.

Most records in schools are now kept in electronic format. The data can be transferred to other schools or universities.Reporting and processing is also computerised which makes processing and analysis faster and easier.A good example is iSams.

Encryption and backup may be used to prevent some of the problems that may arise

Many examination boards now use online marking systems in order to assess examinations.

Special marking software is used for this.

Examiners allocate marks to each part then the computer calculates the totals. A variety of statistics can be generated easily.
