Use of creative technologies
How did you use media technologies in the…
Construction• 1) Final Cut Express - was used for the editing part of the project to make the video. Used first time was
effective but would play up sometimes making us redo some tasks. The transitions used were the reverse shots, black and white filter, speeded up and slowed down shots with fast cuts and fades. The editing part on the timeline was time consuming as if we cut one part the whole video would move up and some things would get misplaced so it wasn’t the best software but was effective enough to help make our products.
• 2) Photoshop - was used for the construction of the ancillary tasks but maneuvering of the pictures and headings sometimes was time consuming and had previously used this programme so enhanced my developing skills of making a magazine advert and part of the CD covers. Layers were placed on top of each other creating a montage between the background pictures and the images of the dancer and performer along with the black and purple colour scheme proved to be a success.
• 3) Video Camera and Stills Camera - for character shots and location shots, they were reliable and are of everyday use so they were easy to handle. As most of the filming was done by me, it enhanced my skills of recording and using a tripod and different angles that worked well in the project.
• 4) Mac - is slightly complex but with a bit of fiddling around could manage to use it effectively.
• The audio track used is from an artist named K-Dot which was copyright free and which then Ruky remixed to make our track.
Research
• 1) Blogger - online blog which all the research was put on, previously used last year for AS Level so was no problem.
• 2) Internet - this was the main source of background research along with personal knowledge of the genre and conventions of the product we were going to make, Wikipedia, YouTube, and MTV.
Planning
• Planning• 1) Blogger - from the research gathered we
began to plan our products using filming schedules and storyboards.
• This was a limitation because we was unable to use other technologies to help plan our products
Evaluation stages of the project?
• 1) Microsoft Word - used for the typing up of the evaluation.
• 2) Blogger - where the evaluation will be displayed ready to be looked at.
• 3) Microsoft PowerPoint – used for creating visual slides for easy access and the use of technology needed in the criteria for the evaluation.
• The technologies allowed us to see how much the work load is to create a music video and the construction and planning that goes in to making it. It made us realize that technology does not always do magical things and has its limits but can prove to make a product look realistic enough for it to get promoted.
