Priming the water supply system

CAUTION

For proper dispenser operation, recommendedwater supply pressure should fall between 30 psiand 100 psi. Excessive pressure may cause waterfilter to malfunction.

Begin filling the tank by pressing and holding adrinking glass against the water dispenser paddle.

Keep the glass in 7 =this position untilwater comes out

of the dispenser, itmay take about11/2minutes.

Continue

dispensing waterfor about three (3)minutes to flush

the system andplumbing connections of any impurities (stoppingto empty the glass as necessary).

NOTE

The water dispenser has a built-in device that shutsoff the water flow after three (3) minutes of continuoususe. To reset this shutoff device, simply release thedispenser paddle.

Ice maker operation & careAfter the refrigerator is installed properly and hascooled for several hours, the ice maker can produce icewithin 24 hours, tt can completely fill an ice bin in abouteight (8) hours.

The ice maker produces approximately nine (9) poundsof ice every 24 hours depending on usage conditions.

IMPORTANT

Your ice maker is turned on at the factory so it can workas soon as you install your refrigerator. Ifyou cannotconnect a water supply, set the ice maker's On/Off iconto Off and turn off the water supply valve; otherwise, theice maker's fill valve may make a loud chattering noisewhen it attempts to operate without water.

Turningmelting

off the ice maker 'will result in existing icein the bin.

IMPORTANT

Turning off the ice maker will disable the icedispenser. You wilt still be able to dispense water.

NOTE

The ice maker also has a built-in plastic signal balearm that automatically stops ice production when theice bin is full. This signal arm should not be used tomanually stop the ice maker.

Using the ice maker after installation

Before making ice for the first time, be sure to primethe water supply system, Air in new plumbing lines canresult in two (2) or three (3) empty ice maker cycles.Furthermore, if the system is not flushed, the first icecubes may be discolored or have an odd flavor.

IMPORTANT

On occasion, unusually small disc-shaped ice may benoticed in the bucket or in dispensed ice. This couldoccur in normal operation of the ice maker. If you startseeing these more frequently, it may be an indicationof low water pressure or the water filter needs tobe replaced. As the water filter nears the end of itsuseful life and becomes clogged with particles, tesswater is delivered to the ice maker during each cycle.Remember, if it's been six (6) months or longer sinceyou last changed your water filter, replace the waterfilter with a new one. Poor quality household water mayrequire the filter to be changed more frequently.

Turning the ice maker on and off

Ice production is controlled by the ice maker's On/Officon on the control panel. Press and hold the "Ice Off"icon for three (3) seconds to turn the ice maker "ON"or "OFF". Where the ice maker is "OFF" the red LEDabove the icon will be illuminated.

Storing Food an Saving Energy

deas for storing foodsFresh food storage

,, Keep the fresh food compartment between 34_ Fand 40° F with an optimum temperature of 37 ° F.

o Avoid overcrowding the refrigerator shelves, which reduces air circulation and causes uneven

cooling.

Fruits and vegetables,, Store fruits and vegetables in crisper drawers,

where trapped moisture helps preserve foodquality for longer time periods.

,, Wash items and remove excess water.

o Wrap any items that have strong odors or highmoisture content,

Meat

,, Wrap raw meat and poultry separately andsecurely to prevent leaks and contamination ofother foods or surfaces.

Use the dell drawer or Perfect Temp TM drawer andset to meat/poultry setting for short-term storage.Any meat to be kept longer than two (2) daysshould be frozen.

Frozen food storage

• Keep the freezer compartment at 0° F or lower.

,, A freezer operates most efficiently when it is atleast _ full.

Packaging foods for freezing,, To minimize food dehydration and quality

deterioration, use aluminum foil, freezer wrap, freezer bags, or airtight containers. Force asmuch air out of the packages as possible andseal them tightly. Trapped air can cause food todry out, change color, and develop an off-flavor(freezer burn).

,, Wrap fresh meats and poultry with suitablefreezer wrap prior to freezing.

,, Do not refreeze meat that has completelythawed.

Avoid adding too much warm food to the freezerat one time. This overloads the freezer, slows therate of freezing, and can raise the temperature offrozen foods.

,, Leave a space between packages, so cold aircan circulate freely, allowing food to freeze asquickly as possible.

deas for saving energyInstallation

Locate the refrigerator in the coolest part ofthe room, out of direct sunlight, and away fromheating ducts or registers.

Do not place the refrigerator next to heat-producing appliances such as a range, oven, ordishwasher. If this is not possible, a section ofcabinetry or an added layer of insulation betweenthe two (2) appliances will help the refrigeratoroperate more efficiently.

• Level the refrigerator so that the doors closetightly.

Temperature settings

,, Refer to the "Controls" section for procedures ontemperature settings.

Food storage

,, Avoid overcrowding the refrigerator or blockingcold air vents. Doing so causes the refrigerator torun longer and use more energy.

* Cover foods and wipe containers dry beforeplacing them in the refrigerator. This cuts downon moisture build-up inside the unit.

Organize the refrigerator to reduce dooropenings. Remove as many items as needed atone time and close the door as soon as possible.

,, Do not place a hot container directly on a coldshelf. Remember, such an extreme temperaturechange may damage the glass.

Loading the freezerPrior to grocery shopping, activate "fast freeze"so that on your return you can ensure your newlypurchased food designated for the freezer will bepreserved as quickly as possible.

,, Activating "fast freeze" also will help yourfreezer more efficiently maintain the selectedtemperature after placing new purchases withpre-existing frozen foods.
