    USATeamHandballAthleteDevelopmentPipelineModelImplementationGuidelines

    Thefollowingguidelinesaredesignedtoaidlocalteam/clubs,community-basedorganizations,educationalinstitutionsinintroducing,teaching,

    trainingindividualsacrossgender,age,variouslevelsofhandballinterestandskillproficiencytoreachcompetencybenchmarksperceivedbythe

    USATeamHandballasdesirableminimumsforsuchathletestoenterourNationalTeamPrograms.Theyareby-productofanalysisandfinding

    commongroundofseveralpastmodelspreparedbyformerteamhandballadministrations,particularlyfrom1996-2000,theEHFsphilosophy

    andmethodologyofyouthhandball,andcurrentleadershipsvisionbasedonpresentresearch,gamecharacteristics,anduniquesetof

    Americancultural,socialaswellaspsychologicaltraits.

    AsshowedinChart1,aplayerdevelopmentalspanconsistsofeight(8)levels,startingwith4-7yearsoldchildrenandendingwith21/22years

    old+senior/adultplayers.GeneraldevelopmentLevelsIthroughIV,includingsignificantlyuniquephaseofmini-handball,constitutethefirm

    foundationonwhichallfurtherhandballspecifictrainingandrefinementbuildsanddepends.Thosecrucialyearsofearlyhandballinitiation,

    introduction,andlearningshouldbetreatedwiththeoutmostdiligenceandconsiderationforageappropriatesofallplannedactivities.Atthe

    conclusionofLevelIV,USATHplanstoconductannuallyNationalPrimaryScoutingwithagoaloflaunchingsuchselectionprogramduring

    summerof2012andevaluating300girlsand300boys,or60pergenderperexistingregiontoplacefirstbatchofmosttalentednew

    generationathletesintoitsyoungestCadetsNationalTeamcategory.Similarscoutingeventsareplannedeveryyearforplayersreachingages

    16and18astheywillmoveuptoyouthandjunioragecategories,respectively.

    ItistheUSATHsmissiontoprovidelocalhandballorganizationswithcomprehensivebutsimple,clear,andeasytouse,levelspecific,paradigms

    which,ifthoroughlyfollowed,shouldsignificantlyhelpteachers/coachesplanandprioritizeseasonaltrainingprogramsand,inrelativelyshorttime,dramaticallyimprovenotonlylevelofhandballacrossthecountrybutunifyvarious,oftenwidelycontrastinglocal/regionalphilosophical

    andmethodologicaltendenciesintoourownuniqueAmericanstyleofhandball.However,thefollowingarejustminimumguidingprinciplesof

    whatathletesoughttoKNOW,UNDERSTAND&DO(KUDs)bycertainageand/ordevelopmentalphasetobepreparedforHighPerformance

    trainingandcompetitions.Ultimately,itwillbeuptolocal/teamsandclubstofilltheavailableinstructiontimewithteachingcontent

    addressingthosedesirabletargetedstandardsofphysical,technical,tactical,andmentalpreparationensuringthattheirplayersareprepared

    forenteringtheworldofUSATeamHandballNationalTeams.Naturally,basedonparticularcircumstances,milestoneconceptsandskillsets

    canbeintermixed,combined,andworkedonatfasterorslowerpace,usingflexibleprogressionoftrainingmodalities,aslongas,attheendof

    Nevertheless,knowingwhattodowithpresentorfuturehandballparticipantsisasuregoodstartbutwecantstressenoughtheimportanceof

    coachingeducation,certification,andindividualprofessionalcoachingdevelopmentthatshouldparallelallinstructionaleffortsifthoseareto

    bringtheexpectedoutcomes.Onlyhighlytrainedcoaches,knowingallnutsandboltsofthetrade,willbeabletoputthoseidealprinciples

    toworkand,regardlessoftheirpersonalstyles,bringforthqualityendresults.Ourlongoverdue,CoachingEducation&CertificationProgram
