strategic approach the USA takes when dealing with its neighbors in the World Community.

• In the last decade China has gone from an isolated Cold World hangover to an economic, political, and military powerhouse.

• The USA can no longer afford to ignore this emerging giant.

• The USA must re-evaluate how US-Chinese relations are conducted abroad.

Foreign Policy Pundits!• The U.S. State Dept. needs your help!• You have been tapped to be foreign policy

experts.• You will prepare a foreign policy analysis to

present the Secretary of State.

Foreign Policy AnalysisWhat is a foreign policy analysis?• A foreign policy analysis is a

detailed study of a foreign policy strategy.

• Evaluates the effectiveness of the current policy approach.

• It identifies alternative policy approaches.

• It evaluates the effectiveness of these approaches.

• It recommends the “best” policy approach after laying out the options.

a PowerPoint• Answer all questions• Cite at least 3 credible

newspaper articles (in a Works Cited)

• Evaluate two alternate policy approaches.

Expectations• I do expect you to work on this outside of class, therefore

make sure everything is in a “take-home” format at the end of each period.• Print or save your articles• Save your PowerPoint on your desktop

• This is the Capstone activity for this class (final project).

• I am purposely weighting it with more points in order to give you an “end-of-the-semester bump” going into finals.

• Thursday:– First 20 minutes: Put finishing touches on
