All rights reserved. JUNE 8, 2016 US WEEKLY WEATHER OUTLOOK June 5–11: Cooler Temperatures Return to the East, While the West Stays Warm. Tropical Storm Colin Brings Wet Weather to Florida; Other Parts of the South Dry Out. June 12–18: Temperatures Across North America Rise During the Run-Up to Father’s Day Weekend. The Strongest Seasonal Comps Are Focused in Central Regions. US: WEEK OF JUNE 511 Retail implications: Temperatures in the Northeast will average 10°F15°F below last year, hampering seasonal demand. Last year, this week was the warmest in 55 years: Rainfall was the least since 2012, although still above normal. Severe weather extended from the South Central region into the Northeast. Not “Colin” it quits: Tropical Storm Colin will move across Northern Florida by Tuesday, bringing heavy rain and high winds to the Sunshine State. Colin will brush the coast of Georgia and the Carolinas before moving out to sea. Elsewhere across the Southern Tier, many areas will see drier-than-normal conditions, allowing a reprieve from recent heavy rain and severe storms. Heat builds across the Interior West: High pressure will build across the Interior West, driving temperatures into the 90s across much of the area, with the deserts expecting to see their first 110°F readings of the season. Coastal locations will trend cooler than last year. US: WEEK OF JUNE 1218 Retail implications: Much of the East and parts of the West will experience weaker comps compared to last year, while the Central regions will see the strongest comps. Last year, this week was the warmest since 2012: Tropical Storm Bill brought flooding to East Texas and Oklahoma. Father’s Day in the US was the warmest in over 55 years and the wettest since 2011, with above-normal rainfall. More rain and severe weather: Rain will track from the Northwest to the Southeast throughout the week. Severe weather is also possible across the Plains. Father’s Day weekend: The warmest temperature anomalies will be seen across the Northern Tier, while the West will trend cooler.
