� Augusta National Golf Club, located in Augusta,

Georgia, is a famous men's golf club.

� Founded by Bobby Jones and Clifford Roberts

and designed by Alister MacKenzie on the site ofa former Indigo plantation, the club opened for

play in January 1933.

� Since 1934, it has played host to the

annual Masters Tournament, one of the four

major championships in professional golf. It is

currently ranked the number one course in Golf Digest·s list of America's 100 greatest courses.

� The National Council of Women's Organizations

(NCWO) is a nonpartisan, nonprofit umbrella

organization of more than 200 groups, which

collectively represent over 10 million women

across the country. It is the only national

coalition of its kind.

� Formerly headed by Martha Burk, it has a

membership of 11 million women through its 215

member organizations. Its current Chair is Susan

Scanlan and Executive Director is Kimberly Otis.

1941) is an American

political psychologist, feminist,

and former Chair of

the National Council of

Women's Organizations (NCWO)

She authored Cult of Power:

Sex Discrimination in Corporate

America and What Can Be Done

About It,

published Scribner in2005, and more recently Your

Money and Your Life: The High

Stakes for Women Voters in '08

and Beyond (2008).

that sex discrimination is their right.

sponsorship

� The Ku Klux Klan announced its intention to

protest at the Masters tournament in support

of the golf clubs right to exclude female

members.

� Till date, Augusta has stuck to its position

that as a private club, it has the right to

determine the make up of its membership

� In 2005,IBM return as a sponsor, but Citigroup

and Coca-Cola have been replaced by SBA
