Surflan For Weed Control In Recently Transplanted or Established Coffee and Papaya

Application Directions: Apply directly to the orchard floor as a preemergence treatmen: to established plantings of Coffee and Papaya to control annual grasses and broadleaf weeds listed on the Surflan label. Application may be made in liquid sprays of water or liquid fertilizer. Use sufiicient spray volume to achieve uniform spray distribution on the soil surface. A single rainfall, sprinkler, or equivalent uniform irrigatiol'l of 1/2 to 1 inch is required to activate Surflan and move the herbicide into the weed seed germination zone. Rainfall of 1 inch or more is required 10 activate Surflan on fine textured or high organic matter soils. If weeds begin to emerge before activation, shallow cultivate to a depth of 1 to 2 inches to destroy emerging weeds and place Surflan in the germination zl)ne.

5011 P"psratlon: Destroy existing unwanted vegetation using tillage or by applications of postemergence herbicides. Crop residues, weed residues or prunings should be thoroughly mixed into the soit using tillage equipment or removed prior to application. Soil should be in good tilth and free of clods at the lime of application.
