U.S. ARMY MILITARY INFORMATION SUPPORT OPERATIONS COMMAND (AIRBORNE) BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH COMMAND SGT. MAJ. DAVID S. RANDALL MISOC COMMAND SERGEANT MAJOR Assumed responsibility 13 October 2012 Command Sgt. Maj. David Randall is originally from Orange County, California and entered the Army on 26 October 1982. He initially served in the 9th Infantry Division Long Range Surveillance Company (Airborne) at Fort Lewis, Washington from March 1983, until joining the Special Forces in February 1988. CSM Randall has held numerous positions of responsibility within Special Forces ranging from Senior Weapons Sergeant, Team Sergeant, First Sergeant, Special Forces Company Sergeant Major, Special Forces Battalion command sergeant major, as well as serving as the SEA for the Joint Special Operations Task Force - Philippines, from November 2008 to May 2010. He also served as the 13 th Commandant for the USAJFKSWCS Non-commissioned Officer Academy. His most recent assignment was as the command sergeant major for the International Security Assistance Force Special Operations Forces (ISAF SOF) which oversaw and was responsible for all NATO SOF Operations in Afghanistan. His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Soldier's Medal, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal (6 th Award), Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal (6 th Award), National Defense Service Ribbon (2 nd Award), Army Good Conduct Medal (9 th Award), NCO Professional Development Ribbon with 4 th numeral, Global War on Terrorism Service and Expeditionary Medals, Korean Defense Service Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, NATO Medal and Overseas Service Ribbon. CSM Randall’s military schooling includes, among others, all levels of NCOES, the Keystone Course, Infantry School, Ranger School, Special Forces Qualification Course, Jumpmaster Course, Rough Terrain Parachutist Course, Military Freefall and Military Freefall Jumpmaster Course, Special Forces Operations and Intelligence Course, Joint Warfare Planners Course, and theMaster Fitness Course. CSM Randall’s tabs and badges include the Special Forces and Ranger Tab, the Master Parachutist Badge, the Military Freefall Jumpmaster Badge, the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, and the Expert Infantryman’s Badge. He also holds foreign Jump Wings from Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Germany, and Canada. CSM Randall is married to the former Anna Hutton and they have three children and two grandchildren.
