The book addresses itself to everyone interested in the field of interdisciplinary arts.

Ursula Stricker is a visual artist, dancer, author and teacher of body-alignment, centering and free dance. Her wholistic art lives out this connection of these forms of expression.

In the book entitled «Figurines» we are meeting the versatile artist. In the center of her work is the awareness of the body at rest and in movement with which she is devoted to, continuously through danc-ing, drawing, sculpting, writing and teaching. The heart of the book is 24 little sculptures – Figurines – photographed and portrayed in a sensitive way by Katharina Bütikofer. In several texts she sheds light on the interdisciplinary art and specific approach of

the artist and places the figurines into a cultural and historical context. She describes further how the Figu-rines transcend borders, cultures and epochs thereby embrassing many worlds within the realm of miniature sculpture. The Figurines emerge out of nature and merge with nature. In a meditative creative process the artist connects various fragments of nature seem-lessly by working on their position, color, structure and movement and transforms them into three dimensional creations never seen before.

«In silence, in the open room, I allow relationship with the discoveries from nature to happen ... an embody-ment emerges; a Figurine that is standing for itself, in its own way, in a new balance.» Ursula Stricker
