From our Pastor …

Father’s Day The family is the basic building block of the church, and of society. We give thanks for fathers who faithfully nurture family life in cooperation with mothers to guide, protect and nurture the lives entrusted to their care. In recognition and sup-port of your father, you might offer this simple blessing as a family at your meal this Sunday.

Father’s Day Prayer God our Father, in your wisdom and love you made all things. Bless our father. Let the example of his faith and love shine forth. Grant that we, his family, may honor him always with a spirit of profound respect. Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

St. Martin Parish Festival Saturday, June 23rd: 5K Run, PeeWee Home Run Derby, Bean Bag Tournament, Auto Show, Live Music by St Martin Band and Stone Road, Quilt raffle, beer garden, food stands more! Details found at ccofsasdsm.weebly.com/parish-festival.html A Scam Targets Catholics Can you do a favor for a priest? Some Catho-lics have been hit by scammers sending re-quests, purportedly from their parish priests, for iTunes gift cards. Emails contain fake requests from “priests” asking that iTunes gift cards be sent to another address so they may be given to someone in need. Please be wary of such email scams and phone calls asking for your help.

Tri-Parish · Baptisms: Reminder that all parents need to

complete a “Baptism Class” before a baptism can take place. If you are expecting a child or would like to baptize your baby soon please contact Toni @ 845-4335. The next Baptism preparation session will be Saturday, July 21 from 10:00-11:15am @ Seven Dolors Church.

· When you or a loved one is hospitalized, your name may or may not be listed in the hospital records for visitation. To assure that Fr. Ed-ward, Fr. Julius or a member of our parish staff can visit you during your stay, please notify the parish office staff at your earliest convenience.

Ice Cream Social Catholic United Financial Seven Dolors Council #400 invites everyone to an Ice Cream Social in front of church on the north lawn after Masses this weekend! Please stop after Mass and enjoy a delicious dish of ice cream. Update on the Seven Dolors’ Building Project A building permit from the city has been secured and the footings for the house are scheduled to go in this week (weather permitting). Northland Lumber & Supply (Joe Vos) from Fairfax will be the General Contractor, with Roger Gertken volunteering as project manager, and Joyce Winter volunteer-ing to oversee contracts. Hopefully, it will be a smooth process that will al-low us to keep on the timeline of completing the project this fall. Many have asked when the sound system will be evaluated and worked on. We want to be as responsible as possible, and work from monies re-ceived. About half of the pledged money has been received, so we will care-fully watch that cash flow and actual cost of the building project before mov-ing into those discussions. Please watch the thermometer in the gathering area for an update on this progress.

All of this is happening because of the generosity of pa-rishioners, both with pledges and in-kind donations. Grateful thanks to so many! Thanks also to those who participated in last weekend’s silent auction (proceeds to be determined). A special thank you to Toni & Rhonda, to all the volunteers and to our Faith Formation students for their help.

Please Pray For... All who are sick in our community especially: Reagan Zierden, Ella Budde, Hanna Hamann, Mary Binsfeld, Elmer Utsch, Jack & Char Petermeier, Mike Fro-elich, Arlene Landowski, Irene Hoppe, & Anna May Fleischhacker. Eucharistic Adoration Friday 8am-6pm. Current Funeral Lunch Group #16

RAFFLE Chancebooks are ready in the gathering area!

The grand prize will be $2,000 again this year, raffle tickets will be $3 each with 20 chances per book. You can pay your $10 dinner donation along with your raffle book (OR use the June 24th enve-lope in your packet). If you didn’t get a chancebook OR if you know of a friend/relative/neighbor that has moved away and is no longer a member of Seven Dolors Parish and should not be getting a book please call Joan at the parish office 845-2705. The RAFFLE is the main money maker for the bazaar, please pick up your book. Your sold book may be dropped off at the parish office, put in the Sunday col-lection or on the day of the bazaar dropped off at the chancebook stand by 6:00 pm. In order to comply with "gambling regulations" each ticket is con-secutively numbered, the cover & label must remain on the book and ALL unsold books MUST be returned.

RAFFLE GRAND PRIZE: DONATIONS for the RAFFLE $2,000 GRAND PRIZE would be gratefully appreciated. Dona-tions may be dropped off at the parish office or through the collection.

$10 Dinner Donation An envelope is in your “Second Quar-ter” donation envelope set for the $10 bazaar dinner donation (envelope is dat-ed June 24th). Many area churches still ask for specific items to be donated for the bazaar dinner; this eliminates that method and allows the dinner chair-people to buy what is needed. Dinner donation envelopes will also be available in the gathering area. Please return your envelope as soon as you can—it makes the job of reminding by text or phone much easier!

NEW THIS YEAR: Pies & Cakes We are in an EVEN year, you will be asked to bring: A-L=2 pies and M-Z=2 cakes. NEW THIS YEAR: Because of the success of the Cake Walk we are asking that M-Z bring 2 cakes this year!
