EDUCATION
LEARNING CENTRES FOR CHILDREN SUCCESS STORY OF SNEHA
Sneha belongs to a poor family in
Dwarka area of Delhi. Her family
consists of five members including her
mother who works as a housemaid,
her two sisters and a brother. Her
father got separated from her mother
and left the family long before. Sneha
used to dream about studying up to
higher levels and getting a well paid
job so that she can help her family
financially. However, the meager sum
earned by her mother was hardly
enough to satiate the hunger of five.
Sneha had to give up education after
after 8th standard due to financial crisis
and she started working as a
housemaid, like her mother.
One day a mobilize from URIDA visited
her family and encouraged her to
attend training in beauty culture. She
was overjoyed to hear that there was
no fee involved and she would be
given all the training materials free of
cost. She completed the six months
course with enthusiasm and passed
with Grade A. Afterwards she started
giving parlour services at customers ’
place, which generated a lot of
opportunities for her through mouth to
mouth publicity. She created a lot of
permanent customers which assures
her an income of Rs.10,000 -15000
every month. She is very happy and
satisfied with her job and now she is
able to look after the expenses of her
siblings ’ education and family
expenses.
Sneha ’ s dream now is to open her
own Beauty Parlour and set herself as
a role model for poor and deprived
