1 Five simple things you can do to get more hours in your day By Claire Lane Today’s business women are busier than ever but busy doesn’t always equal productive. We’ve put together some tips to help you get more hours in your day by cutting down on activities that don’t lead to productivity and focussing the mind on those that do. Cut down on television You may not like the thought of it – but let’s face it, watching TV rarely adds anything to anyone’s life. If you can’t face eliminating it altogether, cut it down to one hour a day. Trial it for a week, and see if you miss it (I bet you don’t). Cut down on time spent on the internet Again, you might not like the thought of it – but you know that a lot of what you do on the internet is just a waste of your time. If you need to use it, say to get some information, set a timer for 15 minutes. You’ll be surprised how quickly the 15 minutes will pass. Five simple things you can do to get more hours in your dayBy Claire Lane

Today’s  business  women  are  busier  than  ever  -‐  but  busy  doesn’t  always  equal  productive.

If  you  can’t  face  eliminating

it  altogether,  cut  it  down  to  one  hour  a  day.

Group tasks together                            Rather  than  washing  a  small  load  of  laundry  every  couple  of  days  (which  results  in  multiple  trips  to  and  from  the  washing  machine,  dryer  and  line  –  wasting  time),  do  bulk  loads  on  one  specific  day.  You  get  the  same  amount  of  washing  done,  but  you’ve  eliminated  the  wasted  time  on  doing  the  job

Assess your email newsletter subscriptions Ask  yourself  if  you  really  read  all  those  newsletters  that  pop  into  your  inbox.  Did  you  subscribe  to  them,  or  did  they  start  arriving  after  you  bought  something  from                                                          them  once  six  years  ago?  If  you

don’t  need  them  all,  cancel  the  subscription.

Get a diamond-tipped focus for everything you do                                                          A  great  friend  and  inspiration  of  mine,  Robin  Dickinson,  introduced  me  to  the  concept  of  diamond-‐tipped  focus  and  I’ve  lived  and  breathed  it  ever  since.  The  idea  is  simple  –  when  you’re  undertaking  an  activity,  no  matter  what  it  is,  stay  focused,  diamond-‐tipped  focused,  on  that  activity.  Don’t  allow  yourself  to  get  sidetracked  as  this  leads  to  wasting  time. You  can  find  out  more  at  http://www.radsmarts.com/2010/04/how-‐to-‐get-‐a-‐diamond-‐tipped-‐focus/
