What is the Sharks Teacher Ambassador Program?
Becoming a Sharks teacher ambassador means that you have direct contact with the Sharks in regards to educational programs, coaching courses, gala days and all other events involving the Sharks and NRL. Teacher ambassadors receive a Sharks polo shirt and an inner sanctum experience with the Sharks players for themselves and their family as a thank you to committing to the Sharks and being a Rugby League advocate throughout the local community.
Backyard LeagueBackyard League aims to introduce all students to Rugby League in a safe, non-competitive and fun environment. The program equips both students and teachers with the tools to play all versions (Touch Football in the summer months) of our great game while delivering important education, health and welfare messages. There are three age categories within Backyard League. These are; Foundation –Year 2, Year 3-6 and Year 7-8. Programs involve three or five visits from the NRL Game Development Officer. The cost of your school’s backyard league program can be fully subsidised through Sporting Schools funding.
The NRL is an approved deliverer of the new ASC Sporting Schools program. For details on funding available for schools go to: www.sportingschools.gov.au
Beyond the GoalpostsThe aim of the NRL Beyond the Goalposts Program is to provide a pathway for students to learn, using Rugby League as an engagement strategy. Students will participate in a number of events/activities, organised by NRL Game Development Officers including accreditation courses for Year 9 -12 students in coaching refereeing and first aid awareness. Development Officers will mentor the student’s learning journey and Beyond the Goalposts can be incorporated into a range of ACARA accredited secondary school courses.
