Start a new presentation

Open PowerPoint and go to UpSlide\Templates.

Choose a template.

Insert a new slide from the slides library

Go to UpSlide\Slides: a side pane will open on the right to browse the library.

Click the small arrows to expand the subfolders.

Double click the name of an item to insert the corresponding slide or group of slides after the active slide.

Insert a shape from the shapes library

Go to UpSlide\Shapes: the shapes library will open on the right.

Double click the name of an item to insert the corresponding shape in the active slide.

Tip:

To insert shapes in the master of your presentation right-click the thumbnail and

choose Insert/Remove from master (same to remove the shape from the master).

Automatically update

headers and footers

Fill in the information on the cover slide.

Go to UpSlide\Refresh to update the footers of each slide using content from the cover slide.

Rename, move or insert full sections or subsections

Important:

Use the Outline feature to rename the dividers – never do it directly on the slides.

Go to UpSlide\Outline: the outline pane will open on the right.

Right-click the name of a section or subsection in the outline panel and choose Rename to rename it.

Right-click the name of a slide and chose Insert subsection (before) to insert a subsection before this slide.

In the outline pane, drag and drop sections and slides to rearrange them. Then go to UpSlide\Refresh to update the table of contents.

Insert a section or a subsection Go to UpSlide\Section.

Choose Insert Section or Insert Subsection.

Insert the table of contents Go to UpSlide\Section.

Choose Insert Table of Contents.

To update the table of contents click Refresh.

Review your presentation to check your content is up-to-date and meets design quality standards

Go to UpSlide\Slide Check: a side window will open on the right.

In the Slide Check pane, go to Slides to review and fix errors slide by slide or go to Warning Type to review and fix errors by categories.

Click an item to display more details.

Hover over a warning to display a live preview of the error.

Fix the issues by clicking the blue tool (one by one or a full category).

Note: When you open an existing presentation, a window will pop up on the right bottom of your screen if some slides (previously inserted from the library) are outdated.

List of potential warnings:

Double spaces

Punctuation spacing

Misaligned shapes

Empty placeholders

Outdated library slides or shapes

Link Excel data to PowerPoint or Word

Export Excel charts and tables into PowerPoint or Word as image

Important: ALWAYS SAVE YOUR EXCEL FILE AFTER EXPORTING: otherwise you won’t be able to update your data.

Tip: To automatically resize the chart or the table to fit the selected shape in PowerPoint or Word: in Excel go to UpSlide\PowerPoint drop-down menu\Re-size and Export orUpSlide\Word drop-down menu\Re-size and Export.

Go to PowerPoint or Word and select the slide, textbox or page where you want to insert Excel content.

Go to Excel and select your table or chart.

In Excel go to UpSlide\PowerPoint or UpSlide\Word: your content will be exported in the active PowerPoint or Word file.

Save your Excel file and your PowerPoint or Word file.

Export one cell’s content from Excel into PowerPoint or Word as text

Select the text range in PowerPoint or Word where you want to insert Excel’s data.

Select a single cell in Excel.

In Excel go to UpSlide\PowerPoint or UpSlide\Word.

Choose the Text option in the pop-up window: your data will be exported in the active PowerPoint or Word file.

Note:

The data imported in PowerPoint is materialized as an

hyperlink, you can remove this hyperlink using the Hide text

exports feature (see next slide).

Update data in PowerPoint or Word

Select the data to update in PPT or Word.

Go to UpSlide\Update.

Note: The Excel file (or a copy of it) has to be open on your computer.The update is possible even if the location and/or name of the file has changed since the last update.

Tip: To update several items, go to UpSlide\Update all.Right-click the imported data to quickly access the Update feature.

See the source of an Excel import

Select the data in PPT or Word.

Go to UpSlide\Go to source to open the Excel source.

Go to UpSlide\Go to source drop-down menu\Link information to display the list of potential sources found amongst all opened workbooks.

Tip:

Right-click the imported data to quickly access Go to source.

Hide text exports

Go to UpSlide\Hide text exports.

Note:

This will save the presentation, remove hyperlinks and mark presentation as final.

Tip:

If you need to edit the presentation again, go again to UpSlide\Hide text exports

to restore the hyperlinks.
