UPSIDA Corona Warriors: Serving the society in challenging times during
Lockdown due to Covid-19
U.P. State Industrial Deveopment Authority has been a frontrunner in offering
services to Entrepreneurs/ Industrialists to set up their industrial units since the emergence of
the State as an attractive industrial destination of the country. During the long service period
of more than 60 years, UPSIDA has witnessed many phases of industrial development
beginning from labour intensive Industrial units manufacturing basic products to most
modern technology based units and to keep pace with the ever-changing scenario, has
continuously worked towards adapting new ideas and concepts to suit the demands of the
entrepreneurs and promote industrialisation in the State. From developing basic Industrial
Areas to Hi-tech self-sustaining cities, UPSIDA has surely come a long way to serve the
people of the State.
With Covid 19 posing unseen, unheard, unparalleled and certainly unprecedented
disruptions and challenges since the beginning of this year 2020, that too in hitherto unknown
and uncharted waters, life of every individual has been effected albeit the level and kind of
this effect has been different on different individuals. Acknowledging the prevailing risk
scenario created by Corona Pandemic, the Government had to declare “Total Lockdown”
with the intention to arrest the exponential growth of Corona virus. With the total lockdown,
came the situation where the lesser and under privileged classes were caught unaware and as
a result were left stranded at their places of work or deprived of basic neccesities for survival
like food. It was, in these times of adversity that UPSIDA Corona warriors took upon
themselves to brave the risk of Corona Virus and serve these people who were stranded in
and near UPSIDA Industrial Areas in individual capacity as well as by co-ordinating with
local administration, NGOs and Industrial Associations. Some of the places where UPSIDA
officers and officials played a pivotal role in discharging social resposibilities are mentioned
